Asus / Pioneer Writer Discuss, Pioneer DVR-106 and newer media at CD and DVD Writers forum; I haven't seen an updated firmware for the 106 for awhile. Does it support the newer media such as TY 8x, of course written at 4x? I am under the impression that to get the best writing quality that a drive should have a specific writing strategy for each media

I haven't seen an updated firmware for the 106 for awhile. Does it support the newer media such as TY 8x, of course written at 4x? I am under the impression that to get the best writing quality that a drive should have a specific writing strategy for each media ID (DVD-R) and that is done through a firmware update. Ritek G04 4x and TY 4x is getting hard to find these days.

Thanks!

I've tried Ricohjpn2 and RitekR03-02 in the drive without any problems. Movies play find on the standalone just like Ritek G04 DVD-R.
