..the problem im having is the new drive is set to the IDE slave with my other DVD-rw as the master, both of which have been switched around numerous times. for some reason it simply will not read n e sort of media.. my older drive is workin fine and there are no other problems that i can find. does nanybody have any suggestions as what to do next, the drive is brand new and i am rapidly running out of ideas.

..if some one could please post some hellp i would b mosat gratefull.

Welcome,

knotty_enough.

1st, make sure the burner is connected toan 80 wire ide cable and set up correctly as slave in your case (even if its preferred to set up as master).
Then, check and make sure its runningin UDMA4 mode.
Next, try burning by using Imgburn & reliable media from TY or Verbatim.

Check my thread as well. I have the exact same problem as you. Definitly do the things Chef suggested, but I suspect there is a problem with the burner somehow. Where did you get it BTW? Just wondering if we both ordered it from the same source.

Chef has excellent ideas and if that doesn't work then try to uninstall the IDE channel that the burners are on and reboot and let windows reinstall them ( also the 112"s require 80 wire IDE cable to work properly)
