Drive won't let me erase or read, or burn CD-RW media, never had this problem until about a week ago.

Updated firmware to 1.21...still no luck.

Initially, Nero, and windows allowed me to erase the disc...now it won't allow that or recognize it....reads it as a blank disc even though there are files on it. Now system "Not Responding" when I insert the cd into the drive. All other type of media works fine...CD-R works fine...DVD works fine.

Thanks for any help.

There might be some issues with the 112- and 212-series that have CD burning problems. Here is one thread. You might want to check out the Asus/Pioneer subforum to take a look. But it seems like you need to RMA the drive.

Just for the record I have the same problem.
A few weeks ago my 112D decided to not recognize some disks that had programs on them. I have no idea why it started messing up this way. DVD's with video info - mpeg2's are ok though, so I updated the firmware to 1.21...it didn't do a thing to improve the situation. DMA is enables...whatever DMA is. I gotta admit, I don't know what to do next.

Hi guys, try 1.22 fw, it has helped some customers, but if you can't read and write a full CD, you will need to RMA your drives.

Best test is just to try to copy a full, pressed data CD.

Hi. I know it's not the best solution, but if you can't return your Pioneer then I'd like to suggest a dedicated CDRW drive, such as this:

Cheaper than a DVD writer (better prices can be had) and a lot of them write CDs even better than DVD-RWs. Good luck.
