Pioneer 109

so i installed my 109 with the default drivers and now in my computer it says that its a dvd-rw drive, then i put in a memorex dvd+r and then it says that its a cd drive, this is an urgent problem and if anyone can help me that would be greatly appriciated

My PX716A, BenQ 1640 and UJ-825S drive all do this with +R media inserted. They all work correctly with Nero though.

well, still shouldent it be working right? cause when i use nero recode it tells me to insert a disk that has more free space and it wont let me burn it

That dvd-rw drive <> cd-drive issue is only cosmetical!

DVD-R can hold few more mb than +R can, BTW.

its 4.05gb says nero that needs to be burnt

Nero recode.......

Use the main application, latest version, choose a suitable template, add the content, click on burn, THEN insert the media and let the drive detect it.
Then hit burn...

What happens next?!?

I have exactly the same problem as Shava. And in some cases, Nero doesn't let me burn on it at all. Whern u say it's a cosmetical problem, what u mean?

It's just a cosmetical problem how the explorer views the drive info...
Look into Devicemanager and you'll notice that nothing has changed in case of the drive.

m$ has addressed that issue in a fix supplied via their support sites, but unfortunately that fix doesn't work very well.

IMHO, explorer just plain sucks, that's why I prefer DirOpus.
