| Notebook DVD-R/-RW Pioneer DVR-K12RA Bug + New Firmware Hi folks, My Config: - Acer Aspire 1501LMI - burner: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K12RA (FW: 1.10) - Windows XP - ForceAspi applied - Aspi 4.60 installed - used burning program: -> DVDDecrypter (newest version, Write Mode, I/O Device Mode changed to Aspi) - Used Media: RiDisc Ritek G04 i bought myself a laptop lately. It came w/ a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K12RA. I tried to burn an .img file w/ DVDDecrypter but it failed. After 60 % the burning process comes to a hold. After that drive is locked! I have to reboot to access it again. Tried many times, always same result!!! Anyone else experienced such problems? Is there a new firmware for that drive available? How would u classify/rate that drive in general? Hope u guys can gimme some hints... Greetings GermanKraut77 |

| Re: Notebook DVD-R/-RW Pioneer DVR-K12RA Bug + New Firmware in My Laptop My Pioneer Dvd-rw Dvr-k12ra Is Behaving Strangly. I Had A Virus Thru Lan Connection From Another Laptop. Since Then My Laptop Has A Problem. I Have Fully Erased & Formatted Using Pm 8.0 But I Am Not Happy. My Dvd-rw Detects & Reads Both Cd & Dvd But Takes Time As If A Virus Is Controlling It. Then If I Burn A Dvd Or Cd Sometimes It Shows Fully Burnt Sucessfully. But When I Chk The Disk It Shows Disk Currupt Or Bad. So I Tried All Disk Types & If I Burn Say 100mb On A Cdrw It Is Working But If I Try To Burn Full Dvd Or Even Cdrw It Doesnt Show Any Thing Even Says Disk Is Empty Even After Sucessfully Burning. Plz Do Help I Have Lot Od Data To B Put On Dvd. I Dont Want To Waste Dvds. |

I don't see the point for such an thought. Use other/better media first. Even G04 isn't G04, not mention any quality. Secondly, update your burning app if possible and try with another one too. A firmware for your drive has to be provided by ACER, no one else. In the end, I think it's a media problem only...

| Re: Notebook DVD-R/-RW Pioneer DVR-K12RA Bug + New Firmware As suggested before, flash back to the official firmware and then try again. If it fails, the hardware is probably damaged.

| Re: Notebook DVD-R/-RW Pioneer DVR-K12RA Bug + New Firmware I am having a problem with my pioneer DVR K13RA DVD-RW CD combo (firmware version 1.00) which came with an ACER Aspire 1660 (4x DVD R/W etc.) After the burning process (4x=max) is complete, the DVD appears blank. I figured out that the session was not closed and I sometimes could fix the problem by using the preinstalled NTI DVD burning software to "close the session". Mostly I was receiving an error message saying there was a writing mistake and the session cannot be closed (~60% of all cases). I was using NTI and then switched to Nero, but the problem was still not solved. Initially I was using fujifilm R+DVDs then I bought expensive Sony R-DVDs, I also cleaned the lens with a lenscleaner. Does anybody have an idea how to fix this problem? Should I buy a new drive (do not want to use an external one)? Thank you spic |

| Re: Notebook DVD-R/-RW Pioneer DVR-K12RA Bug + New Firmware Dear Chef, how could I fix this problem? Could you give me a few instructions to make my DVD drive write again? Do i have to update the firmware? - I tried that, but 1.00 is the latest availlable version. It would be great help if you could refer me to a website to read more about it... Thank you, spic |

| Re: Notebook DVD-R/-RW Pioneer DVR-K12RA Bug + New Firmware Best chance is to uninstall all IDE channels into Devicemanager and restart. Next task is to delete some Filters, please follow the HOW TO link in my sig. Restart. Also install the m$ IDE drivers if possible. Another suggestions are to uninstall burning apps like Alcohol, CloneCD/DVD and Virtual Drives, aswell as Packet-Writing Software like InCD.

| Re: Notebook DVD-R/-RW Pioneer DVR-K12RA Bug + New Firmware I have the same problem with ACER 1640 and DVR K16RA. I only experience this with DVD movies. Everytime I burn one the DVD seems empty. Burning data ( photo's ) to a DVD is fine. There does not seem to be much info about this drive on the net. Any help would be much appreciated. |

| Re: Notebook DVD-R/-RW Pioneer DVR-K12RA Bug + New Firmware This is no drive problem. You have drivers/software installed that interferes and give you that issues. To name a few of the candidates: CloneCD/DVD, Alcohol, DaemonTools, all Packet-Writing Software and Virtual Drives...

I'm sure the specs doesn't list DL anyway, it's impossible. You surely mean "it cannot recognize an BLANK +R DL media", correct?!? the specs are here: http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Pioneer_..._DRIVE_Pioneer This old slimline burner has no DL write support - and will never have!!

| Re: Notebook DVD-R/-RW Pioneer DVR-K12RA Bug + New Firmware Hi there guys, i have an Acer Aspire 1356LMi laptop, with a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K12RA. I have in the past successfully burned DVD+RWs, however, when i tried to burn some last week, i got a power calibration error from a new version of Nero i just downloaded. Basically, as soon as i press burn, Nero stars formatting the disc and then the formatting fails and i get the power calibration error message. The thing is, that i have used Philips DVD+RW media so i am not certain whether the error is with the media or my DVD-RW drive. I was able to burn a couple of DVD+Rs without problems. If there was a problem with the drive, wouldn't that mean i would also not be able to burn DVD+Rs??? Any ideas on how i can fix the problem would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks a lot, Akis. |

| Re: Notebook DVD-R/-RW Pioneer DVR-K12RA Bug + New Firmware RWs will be only quick-formatted in such a case. Maybe you should try to format them with dvdinfo, maybe you should use better (recommended) RW media, maybe you just should try to clean the drive.
