Please Help: My DVR-111 doesnt read CDs... =(

| Hi, I only used DVDs until now on my DVR-111,but today i tried to turn one of my music cds into mp3 and i noticed that my drive doesnt read it! Then i putted into my windows xp CD(original not copy or pirate stuff) and it didnt read it also!...Then i putted in a blank Cd-r and it didnt work too... I dont know why this happen,im very new to this CD-DVD stuff so please help me..i dont think the drive is broken because i purchased about 1 or two years before and didnt use it much... Any help will be appreciated. Cheers. |

| Go to my computer and right click on the burner and then properties and under recording check enable cd recording on this drive, see if that helps or else go into device manger and uninstall your burner and reboot and let windows reinstall it

| Thanks for the help,but it didnt work... I think is a hardware problem,not a software problem(drivers or stuff) because i tried to turn on computer with windows xp cd inserted and bios configurated to boot from CD and it didnt work,is like the drive doesnt 'like' cds...it reads dvds though... =/ |

| Start nero cd dvd speed and insert a pressed Cd, then see if it recognizes the disk.

| If i start Nero CD dvd speed and insert a cd then it keeps making noise(like trying to read it) and it doesnt recognize it.And if i insert the disk and then run nero cd dvd speed,then is more 'funny',it makes the noise again like trying to read,but cd dvd speed doesnt even run,and then,the drive opens and it says 'insert a cd/dvd),and nero cd dvd speed runs.  It means the drive is broken and it will not read cds anymore? |

| Try booting from your Windows CD (you may have to change the boot sequence in your BIOS first, so it boots from the Pioneer first). If it boots into Windows setup OK, then it's a software problem in Windows. If it doesn't boot at all, then it doesn't look good for your Pioneer

| Missed that. I'd say the CD part has died. To be sure, you can try the drive in another PC, though.
