Can you add support for the Pioneer DVR-K16M? I think it's the same drive as DVR-K16 just different model number or something.

I really need to enable bitsetting on this drive, so I would really appreciate it if you added support for it.

Thankyou,
Aser

You have an OEM drive and bitsetting cannot "just be enabled"...

Hi ala42

Looks like the official 1.07 firmware for the DVR-217 can now be found:

h t t p://files.rpc1.org/index.php?act=view&id=5670
Remove the spaces

Any chance to update to support the DVR-217F now?

No, the official 217 firmware is encrypted. You can use the 217L firmware available at rpc1.org.

Now that Apple released a FW update for the Pioneer DVR-TS08, is there any chance to get soon a RPC1 patch for this drive through MCSE ?
That would be sssssoooooo nice !

Are you absolutely sure a DVR-TS08 firmware is in this update ? I did not see it.

My apologies, seems that firmware would be solely for the OPTIARC AD-5670S (aka AD-7670S ?), and not for the Pioneer DVR-TS08 which came only later.
But if RPC-1 for AD-7670S was possible, replacing the Pioneer DVR-TS08 would be an option for those who absolutely require a RPC1 drive in a Mac with SATA DVD drive.

AD-5xxx = AD-7xxx minus DVD-RAM support.

Ala42,

I'm not sure if this thread is still active.... But if it is, here's the firmware you previously requested for Pioneer DVRTS08 which are found in recent iMacs, Mac Minis, MacBooks and MacBook Pros:

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL892

That's Apple SuperDrive Firmware Update 3.0, released on 12-08-2009.

Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot MacHound, that will shorten the road to a future RPC1 patch for the Pioneer DVRTS08.
For myself, since I needed a RPC1 SATA drive immediately, I switched to an OPTIARC AD-7670S and installed a patched firmware from Liggy's and Dee's at http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/en/Optiarc-AD-7670S/.

Oops, I should have checked before posting. I just opened the new SuperDrive Firmware Update package with Pacifist and extracted the app to my desktop. Opening the package contents (PlugIns) reveals the following resources:

ADS5670S_2AHH.staple [OPTIARC]
ADS5670S_2AHI.staple
ADS5960S_1APG.staple
CP08_090610.staple
KA16.staple
KB19_02.staple
KK08_02.staple
SA18_090610.staple

Maybe some of those firmware versions will be helpful to others, but it doesn't appear to aid our quest for Pioneer DVR-TS08 RPC1. Sorry for the disappointment... another near miss.

While Apple increased the release date and modified the package, the included firmware versions are as in the September release, so there still is no DVR-TS08 firmware.

As noted here, I recently crossflashed my DVR-215D to DVR-S15J a.k.a. DVR-215L using MCSE + DVRFlash v2.7.5. I cannot for the life of me get bitsetting to work. I have read dozens of threads here and of course flashed and reflashed with different settings, restarted, etc. Burns are with RITEK 004 [Maxell] DVD+RW disks using ImgBurn and Nero 8.

Any suggestions?

The bitset patch enables bitsetting for +R, not for +RW.

Argh. Well, thanks for the quick reply. Further research @ RCP1 indicates that bitsetting for +RW media is not to be, for stability reasons Pio's engineers are against it or something. In case someone else comes across this, that appears to be the final word.

I could add bitsetting for +RW as the firmware basicly supports it, but this causes other problems, so I want to keep it as it is.

Hmmmm. Actually, I have a SONY DRU-800A crossflashed to Lite-On SOHW-1693S which did the job in the end. Even so, it was not automatic. With Lite-On Bitset Utility I was able to make the change for +RW, and even to re-write the book type area of already written discs (made by the Pioneer). With this change the discs read perfectly for my chosen use, so it was obviously just the book type that had the drive of my other hardware confused.

I understand that this may cause other issues, but I am curious as to what kind of problems would arise with such a configuration. Am I damaging discs by doing the +RW to -ROM bitsetting on my Lite-On, or is this just with Pioneers?

In the DVR-118L is expected the new firmware? I bought a IDE version, first, all was well, but a few days ago he had ceased to erase the disk! So I think, what to do: take him to the store and exchange or try to flash? Used only to record DVD-RW and DVD + RW. I wonder whether the firmware from the suit LITE-ON?

Maybe I've missed something but, could there be te possibility to have a bitsetting patch for the Pioneer BDR-205 (and it's clones as Plextor PX-B940SA) now that there's a firmware for this unit available here: http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/product-...html#firmware1 ?

Thanks

I do not know how the encryption of the BD firmwares work, so currently there are not patches.
