Just flashed my new 116D using MCSE and am amazed at the ripping speed for this +R DL (Verbatim MKM001) |

could u please leave the ripping speed of DVD+R DL untouched at 12X and only increase the ripping speed of DVD-/+R and DVD-/+RW media? |

| Hello, Can anybody think why I am unable to load the firmware for the Pioneer DVR-115D firmware into MCSE? The name of the firmware file I am using is DVR115D_FW118EU2.EXE The list changelog says that this firmware is supported yet whenever I try and load it the firmware file name appears on the top bar of MCSE (where it says by ala42 etc.) yet the rest of the program is blank. As a test I tried it with firmware for a couple other drives and one of them worked and one of them didn't (LG T10N firmware had same issue and LG T21N worked for some reason). Any thoughts? Thanks |
- #756
| You need to extract the firmware file and the flasher from the complete .exe file, then load them individually into MCSE. Use winrar or similar for this.

| Hello again, I'm hoping somebody can help me with the next part of my exercise. I have patched the 115D firmware to enable bitsetting and flashed it onto the drive but now how do I now actually change the booktype settings on the drive? For a bit of clarification what I am trying to do it burn an ISO using the program IMGBurn but in order to burn it correctly I need to change the booktype to DVD-ROM. The change booktype option in IMGBurn doesn't give the option to change it for Pioneer burners so I am not sure how I am supposed to change it. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks |
- #761
| The booktype is now changed in the firmware, and only requires a change in the firmware. There is no other way to change it. How ever you set it in the firmware is how it will be written. To revert changes, revert to stock firmware.

Thanks. ![]() BTW, never knew writing a few bytes was this complicated. |
- #763
| But MCSE only gives you the option of enabling bitsetting, not actually changing the booktype. If I have flashed the bitsetting enabled firmware to the drive and burn a disk will it be burn as DVD-ROM or DVD+R? Will only cost me one disk if I try but if you know the answer it would be helpful. Thanks |
- #764
| Clarification: for Pioneer drives, it [the booktype written to discs] cannot be changed using ImgBurn. Also, there's not been a tool to support it from Pioneer, and it doesn't appear that there is a command available in any of the usual tools to set it. Instead, the firmware has all control over what booktype is written to disc. Therefore, I say that to have an SL disc booktyped to -ROM you have to patch the firmware [which is the case]...there is simply no other option in this scenario. And upon changing the option inside MCSE, the drive will burn discs with bitsetting. Your discs will now be bitset as DVD-ROM. There is no need to change anything else...just burn. And to burn discs without bitsetting [so that DVD+R discs are booktyped as DVD+R discs again], a return to normal firmware [defined as a firmware without that option enabled in MCSE] is required.

| I love the MediaCodeSpeedEdit tool, but need an added feature or the ability to modify the following firmware. http://www.primera.com/downloads/sup...112D_FW915.exe This firmware allows the drawer to be extended a few millimeters beyond the standard eject distance and is very useful to automated CD loaders. Is there anyway to add a feature in MCSE to extend the drawer eject distance? |

| Download and try the firmware that I provided a link for. Take a black marker and mark the distance the drawer extends on the factory firmware (or any modded firmware you are currently running). Flash the 9.15 firmware from Primera then eject the drawer again. You'll quickly see that this firmware changes the drawer position. |

| I have a Dell Dimension 4550, XPSP3 and a 115D v1.18 and tried to cross flash to a 115 fw by doing the following: -removed the 115 fw (not the 115D fw) from the Pioneer 115 flasher (1920k) -loaded that into MCSE, checked the RPC-1 and enable bitsetting boxes- the two things I want. -saved as the original 115 file A0014001.118 (I assume this is an exe or bin file) -put the 115D kernal (A0814000.113) and the saved MCSE modified 115 fw (A0014001.118) into the DVRflash folder (dvrflash_win32) -from the cursor in the DVRflash folder entered: dvrflash.exe -ff G: A0814000.113 A0014001.118 DVRflash stated the kernal loaded successfully then the fw attempted to load. The 0-100% line went across the screen, then the "hold your breath" message, then this message: "could not send flash command, sense: 04 4C 00". I repeated my steps checking only the RPC-1 OR enable bitsetting boxes with same results. I HAVE read the basic strings but cannot find meanings of error codes. I know I'm doing something wrong- any suggestions? I apologize if this has been asked before- I couldn't find that string. thanks |
- #770
| To crossflash you need a matching kernel and normal file. You must use a 115 kernel.

| thanks- I'll keep that in mind flashing my 215D to a 215. In the mean time my 115D has self destructed. Won't power up. Changed all cables and sure enough it's dead. Good news- it's brand new from Pioneer so I'll contact them. I've spent this time installing a Silicon Image 3114 SATA controller card and a Pioneer 215D in my 'ol PATA system. My plan is to compare my 115 and the 215 quality of reproduction when I get my 115D back. thanks again. |

I second Auzzie Kid's request. I have a DVR-116D that I flashed to 1.06 firmware that I modified with your bitsetting and read speed patch and have experienced the following: 1. Approximately one-third of the time, I can actually read both layers at 16X max as you intended. 2. Two-thirds of the time, the first layer will either read up to 16X or will drop off at 12X, and then the second layer begins reading at 8X and drops from there. 3. Lastly, and most serious, I was ripping a pressed DVD to hard drive today and I could hear it speeding up and slowing to a halt, back and forth, with a total estimate of almost 30 minutes to rip. About 75% of th way into the rip I hard a crashing sound so loud, I figured something fell on the floor, but realized that it was my new DVR-116D drive! I quickly shut it down and tried again with the same result. I then put on my old DVR-112 drive that had also been patched with your bitsetting and read speed (12X max on DL) patches, and that read it smootly from beginning to end. I'm hesitant to put any discs in the 116 drive, as I assume the read and/or record head has been knocked out of alignment. After hearing the awful crash (it wasn't just a click, but amost sounded liek cymbals crashing togther), I cannot imagine the drive is OK. It appears that the attempt to read at 16X can have disasterous effects on some pressed DVDs, at least! So, please slow the read speed back down to 12X max for DL media and pressed DVDs, or atleast provide an option to allow the user to choose. Regards and thanks, Ford Man |

| Hi ala42, this is awsome work ! I found this thread just a couple of days ago and I'm impressed. I'm an owner of an Pioneer K06 Slot-in Burner wich I use for my Laptop. This type of drive is also used in nearly all Mac minis. It seems to be one of the few drives not to be supported by your tool (K05 Slot-in is supported though). I tried the latest version of your tool on a stock firmware as well as on a rpc1-modded firmware, but there was no luck. I get the error "The input file is just supported in read only mode, changes can not be saved". Afaik this could be due to a checksum failure ... Loading the FW allows to mark the Read speed to "increase" but the File cannot be saved. So I assume there is a riplock left inside the FW. However one cannot mark RPC1 patch but this should be no problem as there is already a RPC1-FW from TDB !? (Correct me if I'm wrong). The Flasher itself (UPK06OEX.exe) can be patched (allow same to same flashing) and loading FW works also. Could you have a look at this issue please ? There are some problems with DVD+R media wich is burned at 2x instead fo 8x and getting rid of the riplock would be fantastic ... THX a lot! jojo2 Stock FW 1.05 can be found here: http://www.logitec.co.jp/DRIVERS/DVD...A8U2_WF105.EXE RPC1 FW 1.05 can be found here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_file.php?si...le=K06_105.ZIP All other RPC1 FW's here: http://tdb.rpc1.org/#DVRK06 A diskussion on this drive can be found here: http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?...st=0&sk=t&sd=a |
