Which firmware to use for my Pioneer DVR-212?

Asus / Pioneer Writer Discuss, Which firmware to use for my Pioneer DVR-212? at CD, DVD and Blu-ray Writers forum; Right now my burner has version 1.21 installed. I mostly burn Verbatim 8x and 16x DVD-R medias and Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL medias. Should I install version 1.22? I'm looking for high quality burns.

1.22 is supposed to correct issues with MCC 03RG20 (Verbatim 16x DVD-R), I'd suggest you update.

1.22 has increased burn quality with lots of media types, why would you not run it?

1.22 improved burn quality on both 112d and 212. You should use it as soon as possible.

One question as I am moving out from 203B to a 212D.
Because that drive doesn't support +R bitsetting.
Could I just bitset at my Liteon and then burn to 212D so the DVD will be ROM?
    Thanks.

Booktype bits must be burned on disc, you can't "bitsett" +R media with other drive*.
Hope I understod your question correctly.

Buffalo firmware has the booktype bitsetting way I know about (but then, I don't own a Pioneer).

Edit. * On +RW media discs booktype can be changed after burn with "other" drive, IIRC.

    Thanks pinto, you are everywhere.
But at CD/DVD option to bitset, first I am bitsetting and then I am burning.
That's why I asked. And about buffalo firmware is as "good" as the original?

    Nope!
Bitsetting is done within the burning process, only DVD+RW is an exception, because it is RW.

If you have no idea about the Buffalo firmware, just use the SEARCH function.

There is no crossflash for the 212D yet... Only the 112 users have a crossflash to Buffalo 8.21 at this time.

I don't want any cross flash more -no way- than good quality.
