Asus / Pioneer Writer Discuss, 112L Buffalo 8.06 back to 112D 1.22 at CD and DVD Writers forum; How does one flash back? I have one of those drives that can't burn cd's nor read them properly so I'm going to RMA it. But I need to flash back to factory firmware so they don't lay the blame on me. Is there a way on how to?

You voided the warranty when you flashed it to something else. Please take responsibility and don't RMA the drive.

ya but this problem isn't really because of the firmware flash :P its a hardware failure resulting from poor QC.

Even if I do RMA it I'll probably pick up another drive, (on the hunt for a black benq drive lol)

My white BENQ dw620 still keeps on burning like it did on the first day I purchased it (about 2 years ago). But had to move it to my server because my new case is all black and just looked wack with a white drive.

Whatever you think the problem is/was before the crossflash, you've given up the warranty already.

@ mau108,

All DVR-112 series Modified Firmware Flashers clearly warn that Flashing a drive with Modified Firmware Voids the Manufactures Warranty.

There is away to Flash a Pioneer DVR-112D drive that was has been Flashed with Modified Buffalo series 8.** Firmware back to Official Pioneer DVR-R Firmware.

Evidently you fail to grasp the ethical consequence of doing so and then attempting to make a RMA Warranty Claim. Actions that you are attempting to perform give the entire Firmware Modifying Community a black eye.

I doubt that any knowledgeable ethical Forum Member will assist you in your attempt to make a bogus RMA Warranty Claim.

Regards,
bjkg

shoot me for being so honest about the warranty claim, if i hadn't said I was gonna rma it would you guys have done it?

If i modded the firmware and I put in the wrong firmware or something and it fried my burner I would take full blame. But this is a known hardware problem which I did see when I had the stock firmware on it, I thought it was the firmware so I flashed to the buffalo one to see if it will fix the problem it didn't

Thanks for the BS guys.

Mods you can lock this post I 'll go onto more useful forums.

Hi mau. I flashed back from buffalo to standard firmware a few months ago. I cant remember all the details exactlly but I know I usedd MediaSpeedCodeEdit to modify the flasher to accept the new firmware without checking. I think I might also have used the Dangerous Bros 1.15 firmare "http://tdb.rpc1.org/" first to make it pioneer again. You can definitely do it.

When the tech's check they will see that you flashed it with hacked firmware and then the warranty will be voided (shoot me for being so honest about the warranty claim) you are not honest about the waranty claim as you voided it and now just trying to get a free burner

Thanks for being so honest, a person of your words about going to another useful forum.

@uart, thanks for ruining the reputation of firmware modders even more with the manufacturers.

under US law a warranty can't be voided for modification or enhancements unless it can be proven that the modification or enhancements caused the failure.

i don't see any problem with flashing the original firmware and RMAing it.

So ooferomen, if you were Pioneer, you'd be okay with replacing the knowingly modified drive that was returned to its "initial" state with a new one out of your own pocket?

You'd rather preach the Magnuson-Moss Act than ethics? Take your lawyerish talk elsewhere.

Well the drive failed prior to the firmware update, I just updated the firmware to see if it would fix this stupid crappy issue.

did the firmware cause a problem? if no then there should be no problem replacing a defective piece of hardware.

you want to talk ethics, how is it ethical to sell someone defective hardware?

Oh right I forgot, every company is in the business to sell defective products and cheat the consumers. In this case, Pioneer has so many 18x models that they can't even keep one working properly. Since it was claimed that the drive failed BEFORE the firmware update, then it should've gotten a RMA right there. The fact that it was flashed to something else showed the lack of understanding of what firmware does and flashing it back for RMA purposes showed the lack of ethics and responsibility that the firmware modders warn before doing any conversions. Keep trying ooferomen.

Uhm, mau108, lets leave it, please.
It just will go on with this discussion and lead to another discussion and will be discussed to death without anyone involved leaving his/her point of view just a bit...
