Hi Guys,

Thanks to everyone's help, I've managed to upgrade/convert the slim dvd drive in my Dell Inspiron 5160 laptop/notebook which is a NEC ND-6500A SL (Single-Layer) DVDRW drive to a DL (dual-layer) drive without any problems so far.

DVDrinfotool and Nero 6.6 correctly identify it as DL and give me the options to choose a DVD+R9 or a DVD5 disc.

As soon as I go out and buy some DVD+R9 discs to test it out - I will let update this post with the results.

I used the Dangerous Brothers NEC 6500A version 2.40 firmware binary and used the win32 NEC flasher from liggy et al. to flash the drive.

If someone would suggest some specific brands to test it with; I would highly appreciate the input. Thanks guys, you're all the best!
