Trouble burning DL disk in NEC3500

NEC / Optiarc Writer Discuss, Trouble burning DL disk in NEC3500 at CD and DVD Writers forum; I have tried two different Verbatim DL disks in my NEC 3500. Each disk says, "calibration error before it starts to write to the disk" I have tried writing the disks with NEC firmware 2.18 and with Quikee's 2.28 firmware. Get the same error message with either firmware. Any suggestions?

What software are you using to burn?
Try the updated version of Nero. ( 6.6.0.X)

I am burning with Nero 6.6
Like I said before I have no trouble with single layer disks, just these dual layer. I don't know if it is just this brand of disks or if there is a problem with the drive.

When I moved from 6.3.1.25 of nero to 6.6, I had problems with my nec3500 getting calibration errors, but only on certain media. I went back to 6.3.1.25 and the same discs worked ok.
