still confused over Firmware versions...which one ??

Hi Ya

Well i cant decide which firmware to flash. There are so many and more popping up all the time..not that i'm complaining about having a choice mind you.....

This morning i had to get a new machine out to Aussie to my son and so after spending an hour reading threads all over the place i gave up and flashed TDB ver 2.16. I searched in vain for herries firmware ???i belive it is 2.17 ? So anyway the courier had a problem and is going tonite so i have time to reflash to something more appropriate if needs be


I have a 2510. I need bitsetting on SL , bitsetting on dual would be nice but not essential at this stage of the game, riplock , RPC1 and most importantly , Ritek friendly...ie G04 must be good quality.

So which one should i flash ? tdb OR HERRIE....??? Where can i get herries firmware ?? as his site is down. Do the TDB also do write stratergy improvements or is it just (JUST !! - we are getting spolit aren't we) RPC1 and riplock....?


Very confused here. Just haven't got time to search all over the place tracking threads down.


Maybe it would be good to keep some sort of sticky listing each firmware version and its merits , where to get it , which flasher to use etc.....but then who would compile all that ???

Just an idea. But in the mean time , can some of you heavy weights chime in ?

I think your choice will be v1.07 v2 beta 5 made by Herrie. This FW is the best for NEC 2500/2510. You can find the link about it in this message.

Hmm, seems everyone has their own opinion. I asked this question about a week ago and terminal velocity reckons TDB 2.16 is the go as it has later or more up to date write descriptions etc....and burns G04 well. Whilist i dont doubt that it does , i am wondering what the difference is between TDB 2.16 and herries 2.16 (did i see 2.17 somewhere ?). Still i cant get anything from herrie right now and soon i'll be offline for quite a while........so it look slike it is TDB 2.16 for now.

If anyone has more info on this i'd really like to hear it. Does herrie change more of the firmware and for better or worse ?


I know this is subjective and everyone will have their own fav's but it would be nice to see it tabulated in a table or something.....but again who has the time for that.....

2.16 FW don't have SL bitsetting. The only you can use for this is Herrie 1.07 v2 beta 5.
