HI, i need help please. i have tryed my hardest at trying to sort this problem and now it is time to ask for HELP!!.

anyway i have a sony optiarc ad-7530b dvd/cd-rw. The drive opens disk goes in and you can hear it spinning but nothing happens.

There is no driver or mention of an existing dvd/cd-rw in my management but it is in the bios.

I have reloaded windows vista basic and still this does not cure the problem.
cannot find any drivers or firmware for this drive can anybody help at all!!!!!!!! pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee.....

my laptop is a advent 9117 t2310 1.46ghz dual core any help is much appreciated

This unit doesn't have any updates for firmware yet. There are no drivers required. I have had issues with Vista in the past. For some reason the O/S "loses" it's mind concerning drivers. It's not pretty. The two things I have found to work are either to A) re-install the O/S OR B) Shut down and remove the Sony drive from the unit. Reboot without it and let the Vista O/S "NOT SEE" the drive there anymore. Then shut down again and reconnect your Sony drive back up. Vista "should" treat it like a new install and "Find" the drivers it needs for it again. how do i remove the drive from the pc ? I dont see any release button or similar - please assist
