SATA SERIAL- ATA to IDE PATA ADAPTER CONVERTER?

NEC / Optiarc Writer Discuss, SATA SERIAL- ATA to IDE PATA ADAPTER CONVERTER? at CD, DVD and Blu-ray Writers forum; Is it possible to get the NEC DVD RW ND-2500 A to work with a SATA/S/SERIAL-ATA to IDE/PATA ADAPTER/CONVERTER on my Asus striker extreme motherboard? I've taken of the jumper on the NEC DVD RW ND-2500 A and put it on cable and removed it altogether, still no joy. In

    I've taken of the jumper on the NEC DVD RW ND-2500 A and put it on cable and removed it altogether, still no joy.

    In the bios drive detection is set to auto?

    Any help appreciated, thanks

    You want to use the 2500 as a SATA drive? Don't really understand what you are trying to accomplish. The 2500 is PATA.

    My motherboard dosn't have enough IDE connectors on the mobo, plus the sata connector leads make for less room taken up in the mess of wires and leads the faster data trandfer speeds?

    Is there such an adapter. If so, it should work, you wont get any faster rates tho. Also, you have to have the drive either master or slave.

    There are such adapters, but its difficult to get the ones that really work, even more with optical drives!!

    Controller card PCI to ATA would be a more logical route to go.

    I have tried several of these adapters, with several different DVD burners, on several different motherboards. In general, these adapters do NOT work well with DVD burners. They seem to do an excellent job with hard drives.
