Mad Dog Multimedia
They have two drives, a single layer drive (rebadged NEC ND-2500A) and a double-layer drive (rebadged NEC ND-2510A).

Pacific Digital
Their 8x8 drive may have an NEC ND-2500A drive inside. Look at the serial number on the outside of the package: if it starts with 41 and is then followed by a letter (ex. 41V), then it should be an NEC drive.

Memorex
Their True8x drive has three revisions. One is a Pioneer DVR-107 (identified as V1). One is an NEC ND-2500A (identified as V2). The other is a Lite-On SOHW-812S (identified as V3). The "V" may be on a sticker on the outside of the package; I'm not positive. It's also contained in the drive string (which appears in Device Manager or when viewing drive info in Nero or DVDinfoPro) like "Memorex True8x DVD RW drive Version 2". Memorex's support site also refers to the NEC version as "True8Xn".

TDK
The TDK Indi DVD 8x+/8x- (880N) is an NEC ND-2500A drive. They also announced a dual-layer model (882N) which is an NEC ND-2510A drive.

I would also guess some HP models, since herrie uses this firmware for bitsetting capability.

Yeah, the HP 420i/420n is the NEC ND-2500A.

The HP 520i/530i are the NEC ND-2510A.

Okay, ignore the 530i reference in my previous post. Sorry about that.
