If you check the file from my site and extract the files you will see a time of 23:56!!!! So maybe you checked the 'old' file that was there before the update of today.

Some people have all the time in the world to check all of these things Trust me that the files on my site are the same as thoose of the firmware writers. I don't change anything on them!

Hehe... I'll make a CRC32 checksum function in the next NecDump =) Hehe... people notice this kind of thing... but nobody noticed that I added the information to identify the firmware with NecDump =)

BTW: ScorpioSoft... how're you happy with the BenQ? better than Nec? =)

It doesn't really matter which one you've got unless you have OPTODISCR004... then you'll be able to burn them also at 12x with the first firmware =)

Hi everybody,

First of all, thanks to Quickee2 for all those nice firmwares !
I see that write speeds for Ritek G04 and G05 are the same now. Does it mean they are the same or only same quality ... or anything else ? I'm a bit confused.

By the way, in the past it was often said that best quality was Ritek. Is it still the case or should I consider to move to another brand ?

Well... RITEK G04 and RITEK G05 can be burned with the same max speed... and are using the same write strategies... however they're not the same quality. I think RITEK G05 is better... but this all depends on the brand of the disc.
Ritek isn't the best quality anymore... and I don't really think they were the best in the past.. more likely they had the best quality/price ratio. IMHO the best 8x or more rated disc you can get now are TY and MCC... more exactly YUDEN000T02, MCC003 and MCC004. But there are also other discs that are equaly good.

here are my results from testing of extreme 3:

not tested are
mxl rg02,
mxl rg03,
cmc mag ae1,
sony d11,
etc since write strategies haven't change from extreme 2:

however I found one bug with extreme 3... ttg02 is supposed to goto 16x, I tested two of my batch of tdk's and it only writes at ZCLV 12x...

any ideas:

ie

onto the tests:

maxell 002 at 16x:

cmc mag e01 at 12x:

mcc003 at 16x:

prodiscf01 at 12x (we still never solved the issue of crappy error rate at low speeds bummer)

ricohjpnr01 at 12x:

ritekr02 at 8x (we still haven't gotten these reliably to 12x)

Well I have had two benqs neither of which worked for squat.. the first was an oem that couldn't burn dvd-r's it would hang on most.. I returned it.. thought the oem was the issue so got a retail from tiger direct.. that puppy couldn't burn anything... I also returned that... maybe my luck or their quality control is crap...

I;m sticking with the nec for now

But the 3520 is a better ripper than the BenQ for my burned DVD's!!! I think we all have to wait for better firmware for this great drive (3520)

At this moment I have greater trouble installing a AMD 64 3400+ CPU with it's motherboard. I don't have any luck because it's the fourth board that I'm trying

Hello,

I have used Quickee's version 3 on a Ritek G04 DVD grade A that I burned at 12 X . Here are the results with which I am obviously very pleased.
My question is about how to understand/interpret the results. The images that can usually been seen on the forum have much more peeks (going down). This is especially true on the graph of burning simulation.

Could you tell me what all this means ? Thanks

Hello Laurentwb, well the burn graph that you made is a simulation so it only shows the patern that the burner will take during a write at 12x being Z-CLV. However when a disc is actully being test written, Nero CD-DVD Speed will display the spikes due to the drive's AOPC calibration feature which is present to further improve the quality of the disc being written.

Thanks XND1n01h.

I need some clarification:

- Right it is a simulation graph. It is not clear to me if Nero CD-DVD Speed can generate a graph when the drive is currently burning. Can you tell me ?

- I don't understand what means "drive's AOPC calibration feature which is present to further improve the quality of the disc being written".

Anyway, I thank you for having a few minutes to explain.

Regards.

That is correct Nero CD-DVD Speed cannot display a graph if you are burning with say another application, but if you use Nero CD-DVD Speed to test write your disc it should display the correct position, speed, and AOPC points.

(Active Optimum Power Control) AOPC, is there to ensure that the disc being written to is receiving the right amount of power from the laser and is there as well to check if the disc can handle the writing speed, mostly there for disc quality purposes.

You're welcome & glad I could help.

Thanks.

I don't clearly see where is the button for this write test (sorry for that ..).
I suppose I loose the blank DVD by doing this test. Right ?
