Hi guys, I've just installed a NEC-ND6750A on my laptop (replacing a terrible TSST drive), but I've got a problem.

I tried burning different types of media, Ritek and Verbatim DVD+R (and even deleting a Philips DVD+RW), but I receive a Power Calibration Error at the beginning of both burning and deleting. I updated the firmware with Binflash, downloading 2.42 version from Liggy's website (2.01 version was installed), but the problem remains.

Do you have any advices on what to do? Do you think I have to update the firmware to a newer (the only one available is 2.t2) or a modified version (I installed and unmodified revision)?

Thanks in advance to whoever will answer to my questions.

A small update, I don't know if it can help.

The drive is set as primary slave on the Bios (being in Cable Select the configuration has been automatic). Yesterday I even tried to burn a CD, but I receive the same Power Calibration Error.

This might be a problem with the drive. I don't get any power calibration errors with my drive in an old Dell C840 (Pentium-4m 1.8GHz and old Intel 845D chipset).

Do not waste your time trying other firmwares since if it's can't read the Verbatim discs with the 2.42 firmware, then it's a mechanical or power problem...the Ritek is a different story though...

Also don't mess around with the slave firmwares like the 2.T2, since you might have trouble booting your laptop after changing the bootcode to be a slave.
