Optiarc AD-7560S defective?

First time poster, and complete newbie (to the whole CD/DVD drive testing thing) here.

The drive is a Optiarc DVD RW AD-7560S on my MSI GX620 laptop (just started using).

After trying to burn Ubuntu to a CD twice (at 20X and 10X respectively) using Nero 8, these were the results from Nero DiscSpeed 4:

Before putting the blame on media, I am using a generic CD-R, however it has caused me NO issues with burning in the past (I've used up 3/4 of this spindle with no issues) on my old laptop or my desktop.

Any thoughts?

Edit: On a related note, while testing, the CD/DVD drive popped out suddenly (with no eject command), and occasionally the drive tray will not close/lock and bounce back when inserting a disc.

Re: Optiarc AD-7560S defective?

Hmm, I can't seem to edit my message anymore.

Here's the test redone at read speed of 10X. (on the 10X burnt disc)

Edit: Also, for comparison, here's a scan of a retail music CD at max read speed.
