Verbatim DVD+R DL 8x @ 8X
Source data @ HDD in A.C. Ryan external case through USB.

This time the recorder was into the PC but I had again the same problems.
I was wrong when I said that the lead-out failed. After lead-out I get a message, "Couldn't perform end of Disc-at-once". But still the disc is readable.
I am sure that if I had another Ricoh DL to write, it would be dead too. I forgot to mention that the Ricoh on the previous post is not even recognizable. The burning failed before managing to write all data.
The other problem is that I hear the drive spinning down, or slowing down and the buffer level drops @ 4% all the time. It drops at once, not gradually.
The door problem has already been mentioned.

Taiyo Yuden DVD+R 100pcs pack, 16x certified and up 20x compatible. Burned @ 16x
Source data @ HDD in A.C. Ryan external case through USB.
Recording device @ A.C. Ryan external case through e-Sata
Buffer level still drops @ 4% and re-fills at-once but fortunately no other problems with SL disk.

Optiarc AD-7240S FW 1.01
Verbatim Data Life Plus DVD+R DL 2.4x printable
burnt at 4x using IMGburn
I have mine hooked up through USB I think that is why the TRT was so slow or because I am using stock FW and this is a 360 backup and it has a video partition and the rip lock or whatever it's called is active

"Couldn't perform end of Disc-at-once." error again. What the hell is wrong with this drive? What is the problem? I have 40 more of these disks and they are all going to have the same problem. If Verbatims are supposed to be the best disks then what the hell am I supposed to expect from other disks? These disks may not be playable to any tv dvd-player.

Most of the burns on here is capped at 6x instead of 8x for that verbatim 8x DL. I suppose there is a reason for that

I've made the same experience with my 7201S.
It coasters every Ritek S04 I throw at it. Of course it's not high quality media, but my Pioneers do a very good job with them.

Hm, I really had no such bad experiences with RitekS04 and my 7203... but they are wide-branded and thats probably the bad issue.

I really had bad luck with ritek s04 (philips/memowrex/traxdata/maxell) after 5-7 months my xbox simply refused to read them, also all of them had problems with transfer rate tests, so i am sticking with verbatim.
