No luck, 50CB turned out to be CMC M01 as well :P

Oh well overall I guess it's an good thing that it's hard to get "rare" (most time crap) media in Norway.

Thinking hard to replace my 7173A (which has been kinda disappointing) with this one (keeping my 3500 still though, it's still a wonderful drive!). Is there anything to keep in mind with SATA-version? Or would PATA-version still be preferable?

The thing to keep in mind about SATA burners is, they don't work properly on all SATA controllers. If you have Intel ICHx SATA controller then there should be no problem. Other controllers are more of a lottery.

SATA is certainly a neater solution. But the PATA version burn equally well.

Yeah, I have DFI Lanparty UT NF4 SLI-DR mobo (and using Vista 64 Ultimate). Haven't really followed situation about NVidia's SATA implementation...I know that there is new beta BIOS with update for:

4.Update Sil3114 SATA Raid Controller ROM Version 5.4.0.3 for Non-RAID mode SATA DVDROM.

For using SATA DVD-drives with Sil controller onboard...

I still need to work on a couple of firmwares, bundle them with readme files and then upload the files and add them to our database. I intended to start working on it today, but I was a little too sleepy

I don't know what exactly was changed in 1.04. I just took the original firmware from the Optiarc homepage and added my usual patches.

I think both 7200 and 7203S which I own burns better with 1.01.
With my new 7203S I use 1.01. I hope I am wrong.
The following 2 burns are 16x burns with CopyToDVD.

It might be an awful burn. The TRT might look like a boat but it's playable.

Burned @4x. This is an 8x DL+. CopyToDVD.
Something isn't right with the jitter measurement on this drive.
If you like boats this drive is for you.

[o/t]

It [LiteOn A3 series] measures DC Jitter, which isn't the normal jitter that you see from other drives, but more a measure of how in-line the drive wrote your data.
