    Was my burn really that bad or is it normal that scanning with optiarc gives that kind of results? So that it can not be used to scan DVD at all?

    Lite-On (MediaTek), BenQ (Nexperia), and Plextor (Sanyo) drives are the most reliable for DVD scanning, but if you're going to scan DVDs with an Optiarc (NEC), do it at 5x speed.
