The prices vary from approximately 39 EUR to 49 EUR depending on the shop.

The Bezel is more or less the same as the one used on the previous models. This bezel is beige and it got a black loading tray.

The 717x drives wil be sold in The Netherlands from € 35,- coming week (just got an e-mail this day from a Dutch web shop). Just ordered my own 7173 drive

I hope your Optiarc drive forgives you for burning 1x Princo DVD media with it.

Do you have any scans of CD-R burns for us?
Previous NEC drives have been excellent CD-R burners, so it would be nice to see if this is still true for the Optiarc drives. Seeing how it performs as a CD scanner would also be nice.

As I said in your Preview thread, I'm wondering if the PIF re-linking spikes that happen with some DVD+R media has any negative impact on the discs ability to be read in certain other drives such as BenQ DW1655/1650 and LiteOn 5S/6S series drives? Have you tried performing Read Transfer scans of such discs in any of those other drives?

While my favorite TYG02+R(8x) are recognized as for up to 16x I have chosen an 8x write. My brand new 7173 has burned this only at 4x.
Anyway since it is my 1st burn with this drive, it's not a big problem.
And the burn seems pretty good also. This drive is UDMA 4 making it more promising even. All in all I think I have made a good buy for only 49 Euros.
After my 4163B and Benq 1640, I have hit gold again.
Look at the burst rate!!!!!!!!!!!

It doesn't recognize my Philips +RW 8x.
I hope this will be fixed at a next fimrware even if I don't know where to find it.
Also Labelflash doesn't work with my Nero 6.6.1.4 Express.
