    The rules
    • Specify the burning drive
    • Specify the firmware version
    • Specify the media's MID
    • Specify the burning speed

    How to burn a disc.
    • Use CD-Speed to burn a test disc or an .img/.nrg file.
    • Take a screenshot of the burn and post it.
    • Minimum size >4200MB (Single layer).
    • Minimum size >7000MB (double layer)
    • Minimum burn speed, at or faster than the media's rated speed.

The disc must be burned at the media's rated speed or faster (eg. YUDEN000T02 is rated at 8x. You can burn it at 8x or faster).

    Testing method
    • Disc Quality Scan with CD-Speed at 4x (LiteOn) or 8x (BenQ)
    • Include a Jitter test (if the scanning drive supports it)
    • Include a Transfer Rate Test at 16x reading speed on your NEC/Optiarc drive
    • Include the Scan Info Window (min samples for SL >110,000 samples - DL >215,000 samples).

    Quality required (Single layer)
    • PIE total <15000
    • PIE max value of 15 or less
    • PIF total of <200
    • PIF max value (2 or less on the LiteOn) or (4 or less on the BenQ)
    • Jitter average of 9.5% or less
    • Perfect Transfer Rate Test

    Quality required (Double layer)
    • PIE total <45000
    • PIE max value of 20 or less
    • PIF total of <500
    • PIF max value (2 or less on the LiteOn) or (4 or less on the BenQ)
    • Jitter average of 10% or less
    • Perfect Transfer Rate Test

Any tests submitted that do not meet the above rules will be deleted without notice.
Members are welcome to comment on the submitted tests.

Once exception will be made to the thread creator 'jcusimano2' to allow the submitted test to remain.

And I guess this would be first donation to HOF

BTW My computer just barely makes 20x as you can see I have it maxed out!! 18x is a charm though. but even with the 20x struggle, great quality!! This is my baby though and i'm keeping it till it shoots craps. Before I maxed it I could barely get 12x now all UDMA mode 4 on dvd rw & mode 5 on HDD.

Kick ass jitter too!! I love these drives

This sounds like a good idea, but why not make the thread open to all NEC/Optiarc drives?

I'll take a look at the other HOF threads around the forum after work and make some basic rules.

A bit confused -- rules say PIE total less than 15000 so how does the first scan qualify?

That is the single exception mentioned in the rules (which were added after the thread had a few posts):
