Is the only difference between the 4570 and 4550 that the 4570 burns DVD-DL at 8X, instead of 6X like the 4550? Also, any chance of this one coming to the US under the NEC brand (ie not a rebadge)?

I haven't had time to really look into the drive yet. What i've seen so far is a new front bezel design with a new layout (LED is next to the eject button) And a new tray design. (now uses a black tray on all models) The chipset also seems to be new, although the main chip is covered, so reading the number is difficult.

YUDEN000T03 burned at 16x and scanned on the ND-4570A. (better scanning drive than my 4550 or 4551)

    2nd scan on Liteon.

Surely it's the same path like with Pioneer 110>111 - similar but new (and therefore different) chipset.

Probably the same path as the 110/111, but can't confirm for the moment.

The NEC 355x/455x had a NEC chipset with a suffix of GM
The PIO 110(d) also had a NEC chipset with a suffix of GM
The PIO 111(d) how has a NEC chipset with a suffix of AGM

On a Japan site, the NERO CD Speed Quaility scans on the 111 look great compared to the 110.

From you scan on the 4570 the scan looks 100% better also.

At long last. NEC supports fast DVD burning at 8x

You see seen it on CD Freaks first folks

MCC003 burn speed 8x. This time scanned on the BenQ

    2nd scan on the Liteon

Can someone confirm what version of Nero is required to use this drive?

I've got 6.6.0.18 installed at the moment.

    Thanks

It seems that this new drive will support blu-ray disc.

Great job you are really fast with bringing the new drive!

Are you sure about that? The Nero InfoTool screenshot doesn't have any of the Blu-Ray items checked.

In a way I hope your wrong because I don't want to support Blu-Ray, but the drive performs like a 4550 with lots of improvements so I'd be torn on buying the drive. Well, NEC has a tendency of not shipping nearly as many drives to the US, so I may not even have a chance to buy it (without huge shipping charges anyway). Still, it looks like a pretty sweet drive. Thanks for the scans, Dee.

What a waste. If you pay $500 + for this burner, it maybe would.

Can we have a few scan from the nec also, compared to the lite-on or benq?
It would be nice to now that nec has made a good "scanner".

No it does not. You need the 111L model when it comes out.

"Note: This drive is the follow-up to the NEC ND-4550 model and does not write to Lightscribe discs"
