| Howdy All  Just installed a NEC ND6750A burner into my HP ZD7255 laptop (removed the ND5100A because the drive failed). The drive installed fine but the DVD/CD burning software fails to recognise the drive as writable. I can read CD and DVDs fine (both OEM, and CDR and DVDRW) I have burnt a CD using windows own Burn List and it is fine but... RecordNow 6.5.1 - Fails at startup "No Compatible recordable or rewritable devices can be found on your system" (Although when inserting a blank CD Windows does prompt to use RecordNow) Adobe Premier Elements 2.0 - Shows No Burners Detected when exporting to DVD - A rescan fails to find it. Win DVD Creator 2.5B014.412C1 - Unable to show edit disk because no DVD writable drive can be found on your system. Downloaded Nero InfoTool and it lists the correct supported read & write features and can read a DVD+RW disk details correctly. I checked NECs site.... http://www.nec.co.uk/ND6750.aspx Well done lads, nice work on the website  I've read through the NEC FAQs etc and not found anything that stands out... Any ideas? I'm kinda out of ideas and arent gonna be impressed if I have to upgrade software just through a drive change Oops - Running XP Pro SP2 with all latest MS updates. Cheers Rod |

| Fixed it....  I have no idea why  but I reinstalled ONE of the burning apps (WinDVD Creator) and low and behold ALL apps pick up the CD & DVD burner now  I would hazzard a guess that its a registry setting that all apps run from... But for now I dont care cause its working  Now if I can only get the fascia to swap ...  |
