ND-3500 DVD burning Stalls while File Caching

I've already asked this on software forum but didn't get any answers. I'm not sure is this a hardware or software related problem. Every time i try to burn a DVD the burning process stalls while in file caching. It burns CDs without problems. Burning the same DVD discs with this drive (Nec ND-3500) works well on another computer i tried. I've also tried other burning software and strange enough with Alcohol 120% burning images works but that doesn't help much. Every other burning soft stalls already when caching. I've run out of ideas and don't know what to do.

The data source is too slow, the hdd/source is fragmented or the buffer options in the burning app requires adjusting.

I have 768 MB RAM. Yes, I am pretty low on hard drive room because I can't burn all this stuff on DVDs. How much space would I need at least? More than the amount of GBs I'm about to burn on disc?

About 14 GB.

pends on what you are doing. for safety i would say furballi has it right. you would need at least the size of a dvd plus room for window swapfile and any other environmental variables. maybe you should try a larger hard drive First then try burning

I as well am having the same problem.

Stalls when caching trying to burn a dvd in Nero.

I am running Nero 7 and Windows XP. I have 24GB of free space and 512MB of Ram total. When trying to burn I have around 200mb of free physical ram. I don't think my problem is insufficent disk space.

Thanks for any help and ideas.

JustinK101, to rule out any software incompatibility try to burn your DVD compilation with ImgToolBurn.

Edit. Note, ImgToolBurn uses Nero API, so please don't uninstall Nero (yet).
