Here are some results of some Fuji DVD+R 8X: These are YUDEN000T02 discs. First at 16X: Kprobe fails to read the end of the discs. I get "servo error 030900 after lba 231....." Then a try at 12X: I find the results a bit dissapointing (PIF is very high, PI is fine), i expected better results of these Yudens. Maybe i should try a different firmware, my current fw is Herrie's 2.17

New CD-R scan with NEC / IODATA 2.27 firmware. Bought a 50pcs spindle of TDK CD blanks (never seen them before, light blue-ish colour) at a local retailer today, and to my surprise they are made by good old Mitsui. And another surprise was that the NEC ND-3500 allows me to burn them at 48x speed. TDK CD-Rs, 52x rated, burned at 48x (max.): ![]() Plextools 2.16 C1/C2/CU Scan with Plextor Premium drive: ![]() ![]() Pretty good result considering the speed they were burned at, and the fact that Mitsui is definitely not as high quality as they used to be in the good old days of CD burning (Mitsui Gold discs). Since CD-R write strats haven't changed much with the newer firmwares, the NEC ND-3500 should burn these discs at 48x with stock firmware also. Recommended CD media for highest speed burning.

Hi this is my first post here at CD Freaks, since I recently purchased a NEC ND-3500AG I thought I would join everyone in the NEC Forum showing their support and sharing their writing results with different media and firmware. First off I would like to thank Herrie, Liggy, TDB, and everyone adding unofficial firmware support for this great drive. Drive Details _NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG 2.C8041004_RITEK_DL_4X no Rip Lock and RPC1 [Auto Bitsetting] I Used a RiTEK G05 RiDATA Label Retail DVD-R Disc Media Code 00000000 00 AA 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 52 00 02 86 0E 11 .....@....R..... 00000010 98 9A 80 00 03 52 49 54 45 4B 47 00 04 30 35 00 .....RITEKG..05. 00000020 00 00 00 00 05 88 80 00 00 00 02 00 06 08 12 11 ................ In some post I have read that the Ritek G05's were not as good as G04's and there were a lot of complaints on fake TY media being sold as RiTEKG05 discs, but these results are in some way inconclusive, I wish I could PI/PIF scan these on a Plextor DVD Writer for more accurate results. They look like good discs so I'm happy. Last edited by XND1n01h; 14-10-2004 at 11:31.

Another CD-R scan with the new TDB 2C8 firmware. Got these Philips 52x discs from a local retailer, priced 8.99 EUR a 50pcs spindle (~18 Cents a disc). The ND-3500A really seems to like these Ritek A grade discs. Philips CD-Rs, 52x rated, burned at 48x (max.): ![]() Plextools 2.17 C1/C2/CU Scan with Plextor Premium drive: ![]() ![]() Another very good result. If you want cheap CD blanks that burn at 48x with the NEC ND-3500A, buy some Ritek (A grade) discs.

Hello fellow cd-freaks from all over the world! I come from Athens/Greece and I am a rookie, so please be easy on me !This afternoon I bought a NEC ND-3500AG after reading carefully a lot of articles and reviews that you have posted here, for several DVD-burners, in various forums. I think I did a right choise. I intended to buy PX-716A but after seeing all these in Plextor forum and knowing what price it will be available in Greece I decided against it. I did my first burn and I am attaching the corresponding jpg's. I would like your opinion on these (rookie, don't forget) and your advice to why I can not execute the disc quality test in Nero CD-DVD Speed. No option for the start button-see jpg. Am I doing something wrong? Thanking you in advance for your time and...understanding!
