Either with a CD/DVD lens-cleaner or the better choice: by using Isopropanol and a q-tip.

Power calibration error happens mainly with awful quality discs.

Do you only use this Prodisc discs? What brand? (Prodisc is a crapshoot. Very good to pure crap depending on sources (brands) and batches.)

Have you tried different, reliable discs? (Verbatim...)

Discs that are unreadable on your 2500: are they readable in another drive?

Does your drive easily read pressed discs?

Please provide as much info as you can when asking for help

I thought you drink that stuff! LOL

Flash your FW and you can crossflash to a 2510! If that does not work, then put on another channel and reinstall.
Sounds dead to me! Time for a 4550! LOL

im not getting power calibration errors, im getting write errors, check the log. i did get power calibration errors with herries 1.09 firmware but on further research so too did most people and he released 9.0b to fix this (which seems to be the only firmware i cant find to try out)

ive used many different types, (the worst i found were bulkpaq orange) the disks i am now using untill the other day had been brilliant, far better success rate than any other brand i had used, but now im having issues...

I can assue you that you are not (see above)!
You found the problem by yourself and fixed it. That counts, hehe.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

well, thankyou for making me feel better and at least i dont need a new burner... although i did verify the data once i had burned it and didnt like the results at all so i think new media may very well be in order. these cost me £7.99 for 50 which may have something to do with it...

You need two new burners for Christmas! LOL

Don't forget to crossflash to a 2510! I had one and a great burner!

People forget to keep their BIOS updated! Not you! But people in general don't see the importance of that function!

nec 25xx maybe a fast burner, takes 14min for 4x, 9min for 8x but it doesn't drop down in speed when the media quality isn't so good so you risk having a coaster.
    3540a,3550a are best...
