I don't know if Ritek still produces G04, but it's an ancient product. The very first 4x DVD media that greatly helped this entire DVD recordable market to grow to this scale.

DigiTimes reported Taiwanese "second-tier" media makers now sell 4x media for US@0.15. Average G04 can't be better than those and that's cheaper than most plastic-made DVD case.

Trying overspeeding on "stock" Taiwan-made media is mostly waste of time. RICOHJPNR01/R02 and some others are not stock but made of the top Japanese chemical and optical makers like MCC and Ricoh.

G05 at 12x seems impressive. Small differences always happen even with the same disc and greater differences could result from using another firmware on the scanning drive. BS0C, BS0K, BS41, CS02, TS0C, TS0D... they all report differently. Same model drives with the same firmware also report differently. My three 812/851 and four 1613 report varying PI/PIFs with the same disk. So it's usually safe to disregard small differences unless something's made to a revision.

Winter's coming in 11 hours and 35 minutes in South Korea.

Don't be too hasty about that. I burned this CMC MAG.AE1 disc with beta 12, on Friday but I never got around to scanning it. Here's the scan. Much the same as the LD_V1 disc. So either the media has changed mid batch or the burning software did make a difference.

Dee,
Could you make this thread the same as other Beta firmware, where your first post always have the up-to-date info with links to all your RC?
It is kind of difficult to have to scan through the whole thread just to realized that another RC was release....

Thanks for all the great work!

I recently bought some Ritek G05 discs. What is the best firmware to use with these discs, coz I heard that burns at 12x are not good with this firmware.
Thanks for replying

Since he's using the same 10X 12X strategy i was using, they are unlike to be any better.
Your lucky to burn most FUJIFILM03 at 6X and get good results, never mind 12X

Dee, was anything changed on the Yuden's from RC1 to final? I'm having a MAJOR problem with them using RC1 in my thread I just posted.

I have never changed anything on YUDEN000T02 on any of the beta's. However i built the final firmware version from beta12 and added the changes. Its possible, although i've checked and double checked both RC1 and RC2 for errors and couldn't find any. its still possible some error was made which i overlooked.

Some spindels seem to burn a lot better than others. Personally ive had no bother at 8x, but i aggree that they are very unreliable media. But then most datawrite/bulkpaq media seems to be regardless of dye!

Anyways, ive ordered 50 benq dvd-r's so no more second guessing wheter the burn is gonna be OK

Any mod should work. However, Liggy's beta12 archives the fatest (12X) according to my experience. I assume Liggy+Dee's does the same since it was compiled from the same code base.

Thanks, sometimes I think this tells more than the BLER test.

You are so right. I would like to add; every bler test shoul be "backed up" with a transfer rate test.
