Here's a scan of Ritek DL @4x on NEC 3500
| NEC / Optiarc Writer Discuss, Here's a scan of Ritek DL @4x on NEC 3500 at CD and DVD Writers forum; This disc was burned with DVD-Decrypter as an ISO file that was a movie. It is a Ritek 2.4x DL disc burned @ 4x. It took around 25 minutes to complete. It plays fine in both of my set-top players and my DVD-Rom's. Firmware was 2C8SE_Ritek 4x DL. Tom __________________ |

| it looks as a good burn. Thanks for the info. |
| Now I start to see the difference with my brave 2500A. Using a 811S (average reader) also ensures that the scan is not overly beautiful. Thank you for the post, jtommyj. Does anybody else care to post their Ritek DL scans ?

| I like the spike at the beginning ![]() I also use 811s to scan (actually, 401@811), and have already seen a lot of these spikes at exactly the same position when scanning my single layer discs. Rescaning the disc usually removed it. |
| Here's a Ritek D01 burned at 4x with the TDK 2.77 FW modded to NEC 2.17: Not too impressive, burning one at 2.4x now. |
| Same batch of Ritek D01 as above, burned at 2.4x in same drive: Double-YUK. |

I get the same pattern with my 2500@2510 using Herrie's 2.16 at 2.4X (no 4X available, sorry): Very high PI errors in the first layer I think that write strategies can be successfully reworked.

| Here's disc 3 of the 5-pack, once again with 2.8c SE Ritel DL 4x f/w:

| And disc #4 of the Ritek Dl using the same firmware burned at 4x.

| This is a RiDATA DL 2.4x (Ritek D01) burned at 2.4x with CloneDVD2 on NEC 3500AG with official firmware 2.18. Nero refused to load DVD Decrypter files. Sorry no PI/PIF scans available. My good old Pionner (DV-117) played it back with no problem. The newer Philips in the kids room could not even load it. |
