The purpose of this thread
The purpose of this thread is for people to post results of their write strategy changes. The idea is that people can look at this thread and find out what write strategy replacements might be worth trying.
Posting guidelines for this thread
1/ Please, results only! Questions, comments, suggestions, etc., should be posted elsewhere where appropriate, in the media forum, in a thread of its own, etc.
2/ Please provide detailed information! This includes the media code (the media code block is not necessary, but please do include the media code revision, as provided by DVD Identifier, general information about the media (e.g., for Verbatim media, where it was manufactured is relevant, and for Ritek media, its media grade is relevant), the drive and firmware used to burn, the speed of the burn, and of course, the write strategy that you used (that's the whole point of this, eh?
).
3/ Feel free to post any result that you get! Even if it's a bad result, you can post it so that people will know not to try it. And please don't hesitate to post results that are similar to what other people have gotten! It's very nice to have multiple people post about a certain replacement so that the readers can get a confirmation that things really do work (or don't work).
The layout of this first posting was adapted from the Liteon/Omnipatcher thread Changing DVD±R write strategies (results thread)
Check the MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for NEC DVD-Writers thread to find out how to apply the neccessary changes to your firmware.__________________

You have to burn with cdspeed create data disk. In cdspeed/File/Options/Standard Tests/Transfer Rate/Write Options check 'Include test data' and optionaly 'Burn image file' if you want to burn a nero or iso image. __________________

Thanks ala42 for the answer. I not always have a .iso file to burn and only had the 'Burn image file' selected.
I have my doubt about 16x burning in CDSpeed. That's why I burn most DVD's (including .iso files) with CopyToDVD 3.0.55.__________________

CD Speed has a bug at least on the 3540 where ticking the option to create a data disc causes 16x burns to not reach 16x (Speed drop part way through burn). Dee has mentioned this to Erik who develops CD Speed as a possible bug. When I do not tick the option to create a data disc it reaches 16x (With a drop off in speed towards the end but that might be media variances. I am going to try MCC04 write strat on my Fuji Yuden T02's as someone tested above and see if I get as good a reading. It's a shame he did not include a CD Burn speed graph though to see if it was a stable 16x burn or not. I suggest people try to do that where they can as it tells us so much more about a burn!). __________________

Fujifilm 8x DVD+R from aprmedia @ 16x
Old MID YUDEN T02
New MID MCC004
Batch # 1159
Burner 3540 1.01 Liggy & Dee W3
These are mediocre for TY media but do indeed burn better using the MCC004 write strat than T02 strat. PIF max jumped by 1 from 2 to 3 but PIF total and average is about the same.

Transfer test is smooth to 16x
Just to compare to default write strat for this media.

Here is an interesting test of Datasafe 8x DVD+R
Old MID MCC003
New MID MCC004
Ignoring the odd PIE peaks this is a nice scan for this brand of MCC003's. My average PIE is usually a lot higher and PIF too is substantially lower than with the default strat. Now if Dee could figure out a way to tweak those PIE peaks out perhaps it would become an excellent strategy.
I'd like to see a Verbatim MCC003 using MCC004 write strat for comparison.

Transfer test was smooth to 16x (No point using bandwidth on images of that)
I am very happy with this burn

I'd like to see what Datawrite CMC MAG AE1 (The good batches) look like using MCC004 @ 16x now. But I can't be bothered right now. If someone wants to give it a shot in the meantime though I'd be very interested. MCC004 strats look like a good generalised 16x burn strategy thus far. __________________
