CD Freaks presents: Optiarc AD-7200A DVD Burner Review

CD Freaks is proud to present its latest review of the Optiarc AD-7200A, Optiarc's own 20x drive.  Since our preview of the Optiarc AD-7173A back in September '06, the main improvements over the previous drive include bringing the DVD±R write speed from 18x to 20x, the DVD-R DL write speed from 8x to 12x and the IDE interface from UDMA 33 to UDMA 66.  However as usual, our reviewer Wendy Collins has taken the time to carry out a full extensive review.

In this review, the author's page highlights include Nero Burning ROM timings, standalone compatibility tests with dual/double layer media, checking for CSS rip-lock, sheep test and overburning.  As this drive is also capable of carrying out Disc Quality scanning, this page also looks at this capability at different testing speeds and compares the results with the original Lite-On scan as reference to get an idea of how well it performs at this task.

Based on its superb writing quality on DVD±R media in the review despite the hike in speed and also its excellent writing across all the media formats, our reviewer has given it the CD Freaks Editor's Choice Award.  Please head over to the review here to see for yourself just how well it performs.  After you have a look, feel free to comment or ask questions about the review on this forum thread or as a reaction in the review itself.
