NEC / Optiarc Writer Discuss, best media for NEC 3500 ? at CD and DVD Writers forum; i am thinking of getting a new drive and the NEC 3500 is one at the top of the list. does this drive like certain brands of media or is it not that picky like lite-on's ? I would assume TY dvd+ would work well , but how about less

I wish that I had seen this list before ordering a 3500 this morning.....

Don't worry. This drive will burn just about anything, as it adjusts it burn startegy during the burn to suit the media. I've already seen scans of media not in this list and they are very good scans.

That list seems way out of date or NEC are playing it safe, don't worry, the ND-3500A will burn just about anything with good results

EDIT : for example Ritek G04 and G05 are not on the list, they both burn very well.

Many thanks. That's good info to know since I've got half a cakebox each of G04 and G05 media.

Yeah, the NEC Europe supported media list is pretty useless and incomplete.
Ian@cdrlabs has listed some media supported HERE

I want to use Ritek DVD DL with my NEC-3500A but it doesn't work. I used CopyToDVD and Nero (both newest versions) and in both I get an error message that it could not write this media. I think I have to buy Verbatim instead.
