I'll send the link to my friend as soon as possible

thanks Quikee, you're great

---
if this works out ok can you upgrade your 2.18 aswell (beta9 is ok but i somehow like your beta4 a bit more).
I heard CMC MAG F01 could be burned with 8x in old liggy betas, i didn't try to test the beta6 with my +r but the 8x has somehow disappeared in later versions. Didn't they work or what happened (gonna search on that)? Maybe you can set them to 8x again in your FWs..

Could you try MCC OO2 @ 8x ? I think Herrie used the writing strategy from MCC 003.

It looks easy, can you tell me how to do it ?

My friend is back and away again.
He burned one DDDessau disc using nero with 8x speed selected but he said nero didn't go higher than 5.6x.
Dunno if he did something wrong but at least they are burning faster

Beside is 2510 he has no scanning capable drive so i guess he won't do it... but he wanted to test the files.
That's were he diasappeared. Gonna call him in 30 minutes.

Could you add PI/PO test ? Just joking :-)

I may come on the Pioneer 103 -> 108, without any modification... since they have a chip in common with 3500, i hope it will be possible for NEC drives a day...

ok.. i'll add it =)
It's not easy to mod a firmware.. You have to study it first to know it better.

There's a very little and old howto on rpc1.org for RPC1 hack & checksum explanation... It's not the way Quickee work I think (hex edition) but more with inverse engineering (with specific compilators). It's quite old and maybe obsolete, but I will show you the complexity and risks of this (you can screw up a burner, do RPC1 the wrong way, etc.).

Update DDDessau@8x:

The disc read back perfectly.
Errorscan not possible yet, maybe i'll get the dvd tomorrow and test with my AOpen.

(could you do the changes [cmc/dessau] for your 2.18? i need to backup some gigs during the WE. Would be nice to do 8x. But no need to hurry. Thanks for your efforts )

/e: just read your previous post, yeah the 6x problem is kinda weird, the 2.18 has dddessauv30 supported at 8x, so it's less a problem but doesn't help the 2510...
/e2: great, he just went to the local chinese restaurant... so much for further testing of dessau discs (i've only some already burned dessaus here)

A nero cd/dvd transfer rate test could also tell some things how good the dvd was burned. Didn't you request DDDessauV20 for 2.18 ? =)

yeah, i know.. but he didn't.
I told him to burn, he did.
I told him to test preferable with cd-dvd speed,
He copied the data from test disc, said "ok" and went to dinner.

He might be back at 9 o'clock gmt+1
I have no dessaus around and the 3500 so i cant test the fw myself

/e: yes i did, because if he can burn them, i want too (the dessau v20 is at 4x in 2.18 as well)
/e2: i've a scan of an already burned dessau with his 2510 and stock 2.15 fw.. i guess that wont help..

/e3: maybe that's usefull: some infos about the dessau discs:
brand: Intensio
sold by: Aldi, Real (local stores) around 14€ for 25 discs

It would be really nice to add support for Plasmon DVD+Rs. With Herrie's beta5, they work PERFECTLY @4x. Even 6x and 8x can be selected, but the quality suffers a lot. Here are the relevant information:

Probably, these media are not capable of 8x recording speed - that's why the burner decided not to shift the speed.

or he burned less than 1 gig...
so the burner didn't changed to 8x..
I don't know what my friend did exactly when burning the disc, i'll get one of the dessaus tomorrow and try to burn them at 8x with Quikees new 2.18 betas. Or drive to my friend and burn the discs with his 2510. Gonna lock him into the bathroom and break his admin password

Quikee2,

First off, thanks for doing this, your hard work is much appreciated. My main wish is for dvd+rw so I'm not sure if it's the same animal or not. Herrie's beta 6 which wasn't released publicly supposedly used the RICOHJPN-W11 write strat for RICOHJPN-W01 so they can be burned at 4x rather than 2.4x. Not exactly a priority for most, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks again.
