Has this firmware the same "problem" of the previous V2B4 firmware? I mean the problem with the LiteON 166 and "CSS". Anyone with the problem in the V2B4 can confirm that this firmware doesn't have/have this "problem"?
Thanks!

Hi Guys,

This may be a bit of a noobie question. When using this latest firmware with Ritek G04, I get a near perfect curve using nero CD-DVD Speed with media burnt at 6x, but a very poor, fluctuating read with media burnt at 8x. I realise the media is at fault for the poor 8x burn, but my question is when burning at 8x why does the poor fluctuating read start in the area of the disk burnt at 6x, and not just the 8x area?

Thanks for any help

I think i missed this somewhere was attempting to rip a dvd tonight and once again still learning. The dvd was only ripping at 2x. is this normal for this firmware?

If that is the case is there any firmware version herrie that can support a 4x 6x rip and then 8x on 4x media burn?

Very newbie questions considering there's already 4 pages in this thread. But where do I go to get the firmware update? I went to herrie.org, download -> firmwares -> modified official firmware -> ND-2500A based recorders -> NEC-DVD-RW ND2500A. The newest one listed in 1.06 added on 2/3/2004. Where do I go to get the newest 1.07 listed on this thread? Thanks!

Herrie... please inform me in advance of what your next burner will be...

I'm impressed with your work, and umm, I'd just like to be on the same page as you.

I don't have a lite-on, so i can't give a proper report... but heres the results of when i wrote some LEADDATA01 at 8x. I think the new betas should reduce the max speed on these to at least 6x based on these results.

EDIT: Ignore the CPU usage stats, i was doing some other processor stuff at the same time

Is there any known issue with the buffer underrun protection ? In fact, this afternoon I was burning a DVD+RW, and during the burn, my cache went down to 0, so the buffer underrun protection has enabled...but, after that the burner led didn't light on again, and the burn never began again.

Does somebody already experienced the same issue ?

And for now, I'm experiencing another problem : I've burnt three DVD+RW with Nero, and they are all affected by the same thing ! When I test them with DVDInfoPro, all sectors are OK excepted the last 50 mo...where they are all bad ! What can be the reason ?

@ Rebel2k & @ mafe

I have seen this too on my DVD+RW's. After some testing I found that the area that fails is the area beyond the data you just burned. The disk works because all the data/movie was burned correctly. The reader just does not recoganize that it has come to the end of the last burn. Not sure if it will help, but try doing a full erase/format before rewriting to that disk next time.

In fact I was just thinking about that ! I guess you're right michaelc ! Thank you...It seems that the burner didn't see the end of burned data, and continue where there are no data, which leads to the problem !

As for the other issue I spoke about earlier, does the buffer underrun protection function work for anybody ? And with the official firmware ?
Herrie, have you heard about this issue ?

Buffer Underrun should always work! I just verified and over here in DVDDecrypter it DOES WORK!
