And i didnt save the old fw, anyone got the 1.07 B9 fw to share to me?

Or better would be if V2 B5 could be 8X hacked to the MBIPG101R03 disks

I am having trouble using this firmware. When I open the firmware program it says
Current version: 1.07
Update version: 1.07

I made sure it is flashing the right drive so I flash it. It asks me to shut down and I do. After I turn it on, the burner still does not support Dual Layer. I used NERO TOOLKIT to see if will support and it doesnt. Does anyone know what is wrong

EDIT: Also, long before I flashed the drive, I burned a movie called "Unfaithful" which is a dual layer disc. I burned it onto a DVD-R (RITEKG04) and it works perfectly. I dont know how I did it

You are probably using an outdated version of Nero Infotool.

Thank you. I updated my nero and it is showing fine.

I seem to be able to burn dual layer dvds onto dvd-r. Is that suppose to happen or am I just getting lucky. I am using DVDXCOPY platinum.

Have not tried - Dual Layers or anything less that 8x, and did not do any cdspeed reports or anything.

I am running:
1.4Ghz AMD Thunderbird (Not overclocked)
Iwill kk266-PlusR
2 80Gb RAID-0 HDD's
NEC 2500a (with beta 5 firmware)
Plextor CDRW (Plexwriter)
Windows XP Pro + Service Pack 2.

I have now gone back to the 1.06 (newer) firmware and all works fine so I would say it is a problem with firmwre compared to drive itself - could be wrong tho.

Hope this helps although I spose I havent provided that much info

I am having burning the CDR in 32X speed, i can only burn maximum at 24X speed. I am using Imation CDR.

But the DVD +- R burns WELL!!! Even the DVD +- RW.

The Imation CDR may be limited to 24X in firmware even hough it's rated at 32X

Is there some other place that I can get the Herries Firmware? Because the site is down...

The reason I'm looking for this is because my NEC 2510A is using the 2.16 firmware and the drive is still only burning my Ridata 8x DVD+R media at 4x. Kinda ruins the point of this drive. But my BenQ D1600 - 1620 drive burns them at 8x.

I was wondering if the Herries firmware fixes the NEC drive plus where I could get it.

Well hard to tell without the real mediacode of the disc. However I think it's worth a try.

was thinking of emailing herrie myself to ask if he was OK for me to mirror it, but youve already done so, so i get to save bandwidth. Herrie, if you need space to upload the site to on a temporary basis or files on a permanent basis (bandwidth permitting), PM me anyways.

To be honest I didn't ask Herrie for permission (tried emailing him a couple of times in the present but never got any reply?). As i understand the situation Herrie's site has been hacked by some lamers. I don't intend to mirror this file in the long run, it is only to help people out temporarily while Herrie gets his site up & running. Herrie can ask me any time to remove the link/file and I will do that.

Well, I tried it and it didn't work. It kinda did. I was able to get 7.8x out of the discs, but the burn would fail. So I reverted back to 2.16 and I was able to burn just fine at 4x.

I didnt mean to accuse you of anything sinister or untoward or anything like that. Im just saying that ive space available if herrie wants to use it, thats all. Im sure theres people out there wanting more than just the one firmware from that site and my webspace is currently lying empty.

No offense taken mate. You just made me wonder if maybe I should have asked Herrie in the first place - but like I said ...

Cheers,
Peter
