I bought the latest Nero 7 Ultra Enhanced and it seems to install fine. There are two oddities. One is it seems DVD to Nero Digital and Main Movie to Nero Digital are flipflopped. Main movie asks for DVD and vise versa. The second and more important problem is my only options for avc are portable avc, mobile avc, and memory stick. For some reason standard avc and cinema avc are missing. I've installed it on a second computer and the same result. Thanks

On another note, just curious what bitrate you'll prefer. I encoding DVD's to avc at full resolution 720x480 with auto crop. With the new recode I'm thinking about using the volume boost function and encoding at a higher bitrate like 1.2mbps or more. I previously encoded at 1mbp
One last question is very curious. I encoded many dvds to standard avc with Nero 6.x.x and used them on windows media center. They worked fine, but I recently got a macbook pro and loaded them on quicktime and front row and the audio would not work. The audio worked on quicktime on my old powerbook, but not my new intelbook. They did infact work on vlc though. The really puzzling thing is that a few dvds which I made from my tiVo and encoded in recode actually work in quicktime. (The audio) Any thoughts? I made a portable avc on the new recode and it worked. I'm just trying to salvage all those hours of encoding.
Ok I reinstalled and the profiles are showing up, the audio thing is still baffling me. I recoded Shrek at 1.5mbps at full res 720x480 with aac and the audio works in quicktime and I did another movie which didn't work. My new question is does Quicktime only support certain aac profiles like High Efficiency or Low Complexity or certain bitrates and frequencies. Last question is does sound boost distort the sound and does anyone recommend using it in recode.
tman87, Looks like you've been talking to yourself here. ![]() I see you got the profiles fixed. As far as the sound issues, I had trouble getting alot of apps to play Recode's AAC files except for Nero Showtime. I read around that Nero does not conform exactly to the MP4 standard as far as audio goes. I finally gave up and just used the basic settings and then eventually moved on to Xvid/Divx using AutoGK. I still use Recode sometimes for basic movie/disc copies.
Well I did a recode on standard avc with the default volume and it worked perfect in quicktime. Then I did a recode on high definition profile with 256kbps aac and the audio didn't work. It's very perplexing.

The Standard Profile used the LC audio format Low Complexity, QT supports this, the Cinema and above use the HC format and QT does not support this. |
"My only options for avc are portable avc, mobile avc, and memory stick. For some reason standard avc and cinema avc are missing. I've installed it on a second computer and the same result." I have the same problem with mine. I only have these three small profiles and I want to try out larger, home cinema settings. I see the fancy profiles at http://www.nero.com/nerodigital/eng/Main_profiles.html and I was pleased to see EXACTLY what I am looking for. But...how do I get those profiles? Thanks for any and all help... Scott
"But...how do I get those profiles?" They should just "be there". I have them all installed as part of the normal install on my PC. Maybe a reinstall would help. Go to the Nero site and download the nero "clean" tool. It will remove all traces of nero from your system and you can then try a fresh install.
I'm having the same problem. I downloaded both the "general" and Nerovision-specific clean tools and the registry checker; uninstalled Nero 7 and rebooted; ran the clean tools, the registry checked, and rebooted; and reinstalled Nero 7.7.5.1. Just like tman87 initially reported, I get only the Portable, Mobile and Sony Memory Stick options for the AVC category. Are the profile definitions stored in some file somewhere? Anybody have a definitive solution to this?
I've got the same problem too. I can convert video to both general and AVC specifications, but only to Mobile or Portable profiles. Updating Nero doesn't seem to have any effect. Halp!
goober22, What I have is an OEM license key for Nero 7 Ultra Edition, not the full retail package. I downloaded 7.7.5.1 and used my key to unlock it. I'll reinstall one more time, just to see what profiles I get with the version on the OEM CD, and will report back.
| Hmmmm, it could be that the OEM license is not unlocking the full range of options in the suite. I looked around and the only info i could find at Nero was: Quote:
