What are .NFO files and subs

I have recently aquired a movie using Bit Tornado and included are 2 .nfo files and a compressed 'subs' file. What are these for and what do they mean?

What difference does it make what the movie is? I would just like to know what the above mentioned are.

subs are the subtitles.
.nfo are the release notes. (people who release subs )
i think is that , but not 100 sure

.nfo's are confusing, they cant be opened by windows xp's deafault viewer, but Notepad opens them fine, i think now there are a few nfo viewing programs around, but the easyest thing to do is just change from .nfo to .txt and then open, or right click > open with and then choose notpad from the list.

No need to change the extension....just right click, choose "open with" and select notepad or wordpad to open the file with. If you tick the box at the bottom saying "always use this program to open this file type" then in future you can just double click on the .nfo and it will open in notepad.

These files just hold the release info about the files etc...

i don't think the .sub file in his package is the subtitle file, rather, i am suspecting that there is more chance of it being part of the cloneCD image.

There are no "official" warez groups that releas movies in clonecd image format, just .avi, or in the case of svcd .bin/.cue and DVD-R .img.

They make em nfos so they can put all that ASC-II art in them i think.

You can use a simple and easy program called EditPad Lite. It works better than wordpad and notepad. Notepad should not be used for anything because it is absolutely garbage.
