I'm not sure what you are asking. Can you be more specific on what you are trying to protect?

Like this?

Of course, P2P spyblockers are just like antivirus programs, only as good as the last update, and useless against anything that comes out afterwards.
They work by barring certain lists of IP addresses, although those lists may be incomplete or grossly inaccurate.
They have other uses, in barring other lists of known sources of objectionable content.

One day, you will get, at best, a cease and desist via your ISP.
Seen others mention it on my ISP forums, and it sure gives me the jitters about getting involved, even with the aid of "protection".

Re: p2p protection software?

There is no 100% way of protecting yourself if you are downloading illegally. It is a risk that those dioing it know and are willing to take. eMule has an IP filter and it can be updated, this thought doesn't protect you 100%.

Cease and decist notices from ISPs tend to be file specific so as long as you remove the file mentioned in the letter then it is fine and dandy. The companies tend to go after the big guys first to scare the smaller guys off.

Re: p2p protection software?

One common breakdown in the lists, is that many include a lot of "void IP addresses", including the private IP ranges which are often used for vital services (DHCP etc.) by cable ISPs - using an incorrect blocklist can disable your connection altogether, and you can't get much more secure than that!

No matter what protection you use, nothing is 100%. With the latest technogology the FEDs are always 10 steps ahead of you. Otherwise would they be in such high ranking well paid jobs?

A lot of the time you see adverts for software, they are only trying to sell their security products with a lot of gloss to make it shine and sale pitch. the feds and governemnt have the power to do anything....

...just watch 1 episode of CSI

firewalls and whatever else you have dont mean anything to them, to them its like baby toys.
