GarageBand and MSN Music offer free independant music

Someone was asking for some free legal music downloads and here is a great place to start. Especially if you live in the United States. GarageBand and MSN Music are now partnering to help promote new Independent artists to the masses. MSN Music is featuring the top contenders from the GarageBand site and promoting them on their very popular web page. You can download free tracks there to see if you like what they are doing if so there are other tracks from the same album for sale. As the faces should change from time to time we should be able to find music that is new and not the same old labels pablum!

Let's hope this idea catches on people, because it will be the first step into providing a platform to help us get exposed to new talent without it being filtered by some corporate executives or bean counters.

I suggest if you like some of these new talents to purchase a couple tracks or more to show that this is a system that we can get excited about. It looks like they are charging 99 cents a track, I think we can guess what format it is in.
