Exit LimeWire enter FrostWire

LimeWire had already taken many steps to discourage the sharing of unlicensed files, however the June 26 Supreme Court decision emboldened the RIAA to further pursue file-shairng developers.</p> <p>Today, LimeWire is the most popular P2P application for music. Over 2 million individuals simultaneously use this client, more than any other client for this purpose. When and if LimeWire decides to upgrade their code, millions of voices will suddenly cry out in terror and suddenly become silenced. FrostWire sounds like it would be the next big thing like LimeWire, but here the question, Will FrostWire end up like LimeWire getting sued and have to add the licensed thing?

Everyone is forgetting that Limewire is just a client. It has NOTHING to do with the underlying network, which is searchable by any of a dozen clients.

Limewire is crapware, and there are many more efficient ways of accessing Gnutella networks.

There are dozens. People like Bearshare, just as an example.

That is completely true.... its not like bittorrent where you get the warez from one source and then ahve to go to a separate client to dl it...

There are free clients, and clients which cost money. Hell, even Shareaza will search the Gnutella network for you.

People forget that the network is NOT the program. Kazaa isn't a network, it's a frontend for the FastTrack network. Limewire isn't the network, it's a frontend for the Gnutella network. Google "gnutella" and see what comes up.

You're right! but LimeWire is one of the best clients, if not the best one, to hook up to the Gnutella network. Otherwise there wouldn't be such a community effort to carry on with it's codebase.
