| Not a bad program at all although I sometimes find it that the upload speed is way higher than the download speed for rare files. I would upload at 20kb and only download around 5. Its biggest problem is the lack of seeders that are willing to stick around after their file is done. Its too tempting to just close it to save bandwidth.

| I am actually using the Torrent P2P right now...it's kinda like IRC, but as FD said, those upload rates and lack of seeders. In other words: Quote:
My opinion as well.

| You guys all know about the Suprnova, right? |
| I think there is much less choice and much worse quality than the edonkey network, and although you can get things very fast, it is monitored as much as the other networks now for games and movies so if you live in the U.S.

| the program is ok, but indeed as Flying Dutchman says there is sometimes a lack of seeders My opinion is=> popular files should be downloaded with this program, but stay far away when you want something that is not popular. mzzl |
| 1 of my buddies uses this to DL TV series, i thought about trying it but didnt bother cos i like my gd-ole-emule |
| emule is good but shareaza is better ed2k, bit torent, gneutella 1/2 and it takes all standard website links ed2k:, magnet:, gneutella:, .torrent, mp2p so yes i use it but i dont find many sites that use torrent downloading.

| If i had plenty of bandwith , i would gladly share. Strangely i never seem to have enough bandwith , not even when i'm on a T3 server.

| .......arg , u lucky ppl on '600kbps+'s , i only started to switch to a not-stable + crappy DSL like a month ago, its only 128kbps plus i have to share it wit my mum... but still i always shared wheather the person that uploads off me shares or not ... |
| I tried Bit Torent for 1 day then asked for a full refund !!!!! It would download the first 20mb of data then stop until it had uploaded a greater value. It wasn't capable of carrying on with a download after modem re-connection. I also found it very slow. Conclude what you wish........just my 10peneth !! |
| is it seriously that bad ???? u sure u hav the newest version ??? |
| Bittorrent hands down the best program I used (I used IRC in the past too) I'll explain why...1st time I used BT i had similar errors slow dls, that's when I decided to use a better client than the official, I suggest everyone get the ABC client. Then I realize if i'm using a router I need to forward the ports 6881-6999. Even since, I DL most of the files at my maximum broadband speed 150k a sec. I have been dling about 100 gigs a month, 95% of the files I want have been dled. BT also use a method called hash checking, so the files you DL will NEVER be corrupted. Last and not least this program could last forever, the technology is simply brilliant is a unique p2p network that wont be taken down. If you're having errors keep working at it there is a solution out there. |

| DaSnIpE1: they monitor everything those bastards, I use bt sometimes, still like IRC and kazaa at times (no sharing involved there, lol) Leech! i have dialup and i dont leech. this session alone i have uploaded 9 files. I use BT its great but with shareaza you can become a seed very easily. just double click on the torrent file you completed in your media library and it re-seeds the file again. Simple as that. Thouch importing already started BT downloads is possible but complicated but the best part is you can make trackerless torrents! 1. start your BT download in shareaza. 2. do a search for that file 3. once you found the EXACT file copy the SHA1 hash data 4. right click on the partial file, advanced>advanced edit, paste the SHA1 data into the SHA1 box. click ok and now it looks at the gneutella 2/1 network for that specific file!. as well as bt NOTE: to copy the SHA1 data, right click on the file in the search box, click copy URI data choose the magnet one and delete everything before the hash mark (random capital letters and numbers combo and everything after the period. EG: [magnet:...bitprint:][sha1].[tiger] [&d file name] [magnet:?xt=urn:bitprint:] delete the above [4ZQ666Z47BUKUSP7QJFZ6CH6UR2MT2MQ]. The above is the SHA1 data [5ANNG2AWFJDILQEYAVRNSJTQHOYYX2OMVF5YJAI] the above is the tiger tree hash data [&dn=cbp2003.zip] delete the above part Voila a trackerless torrent! be sure that the file is EXACTLY the same though or else there will be a MAJOR screw up.

| yea but still, even if u r DLing from shazaa, they still monitor ur DLs, so wots the point.............. might as well stick with BT |
| Hi all, I have been using eDonkey, Kazaa-like-crap, DC++ etc. Currently I use Torrent and I think it's great. The problems most people have seems to be the lack of D/L-speed and an U/L-speed that is way higher than the download. First of all, forget the BitTorrent software....I spit on that... Try ABC Torrent. The next step is to open ports 6881-6999 on your firewall or router, if you don't, all you will get is a D/L speed at a max of 20Kb. Set the global uploadsetting in ABC (minimum is 3kB/s) Visit Suprnova and choose your Torrents. Using my standard 1024/512 ADSL connection I have D/L-speeds up to 105kB/s, upload is around 3kB. It seems that all those guys using ABC profit from the users of the regular BitTorrent ;-) Why I think Torrent is the best? You can be absolutely sure that the file you download IS the file you want AND the integrity of the file is ALWAYS ok due to the Hash checking that Torrent uses. Downloaded over 40 Xbox ISO's last 2 months, each file is several Gigs, they all work, no exeption. Grtz. Twin |
| For people complaining about the upload vs. download speed using torrent.. Download a program called BitSpirit... With that program you can specify the maximum upload speed you want Without effecting the download speed at all.... |
| BadReligionPR: The way I would view that is, you have a chance to be caught from many more fronts for a single file. Shareaza has a built in IP blocker to help reduce the risk and http://www.bluetack.co.uk/convert.html lets you convery PG security files to shareaza files in about 5 seconds. No, Its peobably the best program you can get for security when using the PG blocklists. The current one is about 190 pages of bad IP's. Its still not 100% safe though. and BT dosent have any blocklists at all.

| I just read most of your posts and replies and couldn't find an answer to my problem. I've got BT (Shadows experimental) and when I click on a link for a popular file I get a pop up saying Download Error: Problem connecting to tracker <connection error 10061, connection refused> I know I'm just supposed to leave it open and it will eventually find a tracker to connect to, but it doesn't. I left it for hours and it downloaded nothing. I would of posted this of the BT forums but I have had the same post on there for a while now and nobody has answered. Thanks guys |
