Main software: http://www.bittorrent.com/
Popular GUI: http://bittornado.com/
Legal downloads: http://f.moya.scarywater.net/

Download speed completely depends on the amount of people seeding the particular file. If there are no or not enough seeders then your download speed will be either zero or very low.

Gamefreak's absolutely right. Plus, people can limit how many kb/s you can upload from them. So, you can have a fast connection, yet still only get 5-10 kb/s if the people are stingy with how much they share. Other times, you may be able to d/l 20-100 kb/s if there are sufficient people connected with the file in question.

Personally I would say yes, unless you use a tracker that is very popular (read: has a lot of people seeding files).

dc++ is an obsolete p2p that less and less people are using it due to having to share everything that you got just to accumate the required gb inorder to get into most of the popular hub. with bt, you don't have to share anything except provide upload bandwidth, that's the beauty of it! not to mention, convenient.
