Starforce protection on Heroes of Might and Magic IV

One of the things that comes up once in a while on our site is the copy protection Star-Force. This protection seems to be made in Russia and is for as far as we know uncopyable. Several software authors also claimed the protection can't be beaten the 'old fashioned' way.

This is because the software (and protection) is pressed/burned on special media (available on the Star-Force) site. Anyways, Hemispasm used our newssubmit to let us know that Star-Force recently announced that the russian version of Might'nMagicIV will be StarForce protected:

When deciding how to safeguard our investment and the hard work and efforts that went into producing such a wonderful game, StarForce Professional was the clear choice for the job. No other product comes close to offering such a dependable protection," said Vladimir Miniaev, licensing manager for Buka. Prior to using the technology we provided samples of our games protected with StarForce Professional to engineers at New World Computing®, a division of The 3DO Company, who evaluated and approved of StarForce copy protection system.

Heroes of Might and Magic IV is currently the number two "Top Strategy" game in the U.S. according to gamespot.com, and the number five game overall scored by GameZone.com. StarForce is protecting the Russian and English versions of the games released in Russia.
