À short analysis of copy protections reliability

My goal is to understand how faster protections has been pwned, and decide which one is more stability. For somebody of you there will be no any news, but i hope that our novices fined something usefull for them.

I have took only three "whales" of todays copy protection scene:
- StarForce
- SecuRom
- SafeDisc
(lol all of them starts with S )

To make a comparison i took several pretty new games protected by each of them. I have to mention that i choosed only big titles which well known to most of gamers. The patches such as last patch for Silent Hunter 3 or GTA:SA have not been include in this review. If game have been emulating i
guees that its not a pwned especially because not all emulating schemes works for each users.

Here we go:

- StarForce 3 (3.04)
-- Silent Hunter III (pwned) /// game release - 15.03.2005 / .nfo release - 22.03.2005
-- Splinter Cell CT (not pwned, emulating) /// game release - 30.04.2005 | .nfo release - ...
-- Cossacks 2: Napoleonic Wars (pwned) /// game release - 26.04.2005 | .nfo release - 05.06.2005
-- Area 51 (pwned) /// game release - 06.06.2005 | .nfo release - 10.06.2005
-- Codename: Panzers, Phase Two (not pwned) /// game release 28.07.2005 | .nfo release - ...
-- Brain Lara International Cricket 2005 (not pwned) /// game release - 22.07.2005 | .nfo release - ...

- SecuRom 7
-- Stronghold 2 (pwned) /// game release - 20.04.2005 | .nfo release - 23.04.2005
-- Act of War: Direct Action (pwned) /// game release - 15.05.2005 | .nfo release - 16.05.2005
-- Boiling Point: Road to Hell (pwned) /// game release - 20.05.2005 | .nfo release - 21.05.2005
-- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (pwned) /// game release - 07.06.2005 | .nfo release - 07.06.2005
-- RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Soaked! (pwned) /// game release - 23.06.2005 | .nfo release - 23.06.2005
-- Bloodrayne 2 (pwned) /// game release - 02.08.2005 | .nfo release - 02.08.2005

- SafeDisc 4
-- Prince Of Persia - Warrior Within (pwned) /// game release - 02.12.2004 | .nfo release - 01.12.2004
-- The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth (pwned) /// game release - 06.12.2004 | .nfo release - 10.12.2004
-- BattleField 2 (pwned) /// game release - 21.06.2005 | crack release - 19.06.2005
-- Brothers In Arms: Road To Hill 30 (pwned) /// game release - 17.03.2005 | .nfo release - 15.03.2005
-- The Sims 2 University (not pwned? emulating) /// game release - 03.03.2005 | .nfo release - 01.03.2005
-- Cold Fear (pwned) /// game release - 30.03.2005 | .nfo release - 30.03.2005

As is easy to see almost all CPs have been pwned but there is a difference in how fast its done. As we all know that there is days or even hours just after game release that critical for sale - that meens that SafeDisk totally not stand up to competition. Securom has things better (we all know thier last patch for GTA:SA) but could not be compare to StarForce in general.
Sure StarForce also has "fast pwned" titles like Postal 2: Apocalypse Weekend (was pwned day before realise), but we all know that SCCT do not done yet and its a very good achievement for such popular game. But it is significant that SafeDisk also good greate job with thier Sims 2. Anyway only StarForce has too many titles that struggles so far. As both SecuRom and SafeDisk have unbroken titles i guess that they could do better that now, but .... but till this moment they havent do thier best or do not want to do it. Also the results are very discredited especially for SafeDisk as thier titles failed even the days before offical realise date. Think over this situation i have came to a dangerous decision - protect your game with SafeDisk - support pirates (omg!).

Consistent usage of the letter "p" instead of "o" only makes your text unreadable, not look better.

And your text seems only to indicate that StarForce works.
