CD DYE can be crucial. Ehh, I am in a rush for work and can't explain too much so read here to get a bit of understanding.

Apparently Kodak Gold are great and have very good DYE, it is maybe even higher scaled then TDK Blue or Tayio Yuden.

ok than now i`m up-to-date with the explanation of CD DYE..

but what`s about emulating the game ...

should there be some kind of blacklisting in addition ?

out of my tests (alcohol and daemon) it does not work..

my experience with sacred - german
i made a working copy
with alcohol 1.4.8.122
i can burn the image and mount it with daemon tools 3.46
BUT
i can only do this when after i uninstalled alcohol and cleaned the registry manually
before doing this all my backups didnt work
but after uninstalling and cleaning the system from alcohol
and with a fresh sacred install
all of my backups work
(now i have around 12 copies of the second cd
because i thought they do not work)

@becile

Hi,

you did it right! At the moment the only (known) solution is like you did:

- create the image with the newest Alcohol version (ProtectCD V5 profile)

- write the image with Alcohol and the same profile

Then you can install and play the game from the RMPS backup-CD or the created image from a partition where only the newest daemon tools 3.46 installed is installed.

The reason for this are the blacklists for Alcohol, CloneCD, etc. by the latest ProtectCD version 5.xx. I tried this with "Piraten - Herrscher der Karibik" and it worked well.

Funny: if Alcohol is installed even the original will not work!

VeNom386 did a very good job with the latest Daemon Tools release.

Greetings
Alex

no way ... it is not CD DYE ,,,

Okay, I copied Sacred (english). I used Blindwrite 4.7.95 (think that is it) and a Plextor Premium FW 1.04. I copied it like it was Securom and it seems to work fine. This is without using ANY programs to emulate or hide ATIP.

I've only tested it in one drive (thats good enough for me) and it is a Pioneer DVD-305 SCSI cdrom.

Update: After quiting the program to check the model number of my cdrom I relaunched the game and it failed twice before passing the copy protection test on the third try. So it doesn't seem to be a perfect copy but I guess it works well enough for now. I had similar problems with this drive and twinpeak recordered software. Sometimes it would take a couple trys for it to work.

The patch probably blacklisted daemon tools.

@Halleluja

Hi,

this is a known problem. It's called blacklisting. When a new version of an emulation software like DTools appears to fix the blacklistings, the game companies will soon answer with game updates. But often this updates only introduces a new blacklisting of the new emulation software.

My suggestion is always the same: only update your game when there are really nasty bugs into it. You can also use a different test environment (different PC oder multiboot system) where you can test the new update. If the new update blacklists the emulation software don't install it on your game PC. Point.

Please post this also in the Alcohol and Daemon Tools forum.

Hope this helps you.

Greetings
Alex

hmmmm
thanks 4 help guys...
sry but i think that is not the problem. i tried this:
image that worked with vers. 1.5 mounted with D-Tools (didnt work like described above (1.6))
burned image with blindwrite, uninstalled and deleted ALL registry entries of D-Tools, Blindwrite... with regcleaner. Tried again but same problem...
Cause of this i dont think the problem is a new blacklist

I think the developper of sacred better had to try to make a good and BUGFREE game instead of working 24/7 for better copyprotection...

Are you sure that your burned backup will work at any patch level? I'll go update mine to 1.6 and see if my backup still works.

I updated to 1.6 was was unable to get the backup to run any more. Looks like they may have updated the protection. It will usually pass the protection after 3 launches or less. I did about 8 without getting it to pass the protection...

the facts i know about the different versions:
1.5 )( needs the newest daemon tools [ old daemon tools blacklisted by the game ]
1.6 )( needs daemonscript [ the game disables RMPS at startup ]
1.6.6 )( !need help! [ daemonscript was blacklisted ]

hi folks

i don't know if daemon script is really blacklisted in sacred 1.6.6 (heard several pro/contras), but there is always a second path to go

open notepad and insert this:
// SCRIPT
RunSacred();
function RunSacred()
{
var WSHShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell");
var i;

WSHShell.Run("e:\\Tools\\Daemon\\daemon.exe -rmps on",1,1)
WSHShell.Run("sacred.exe",1,0)

for (i=0; i<25; i++)
{
WScript.Sleep(500)
WSHShell.Run("e:\\Tools\\Daemon\\daemon.exe -rmps on")
}

}
// END SCRIPT
change the path of daemon tools as needed, save file as "sacred.js" in your sacred directory and have phun

and BIG thanx to Snoopy of the brennmeister.com forum who had this idea first (i'm just spreadin' it right now).
hope it works, i haven't updated my sacred to 1.6.6 yet...

greetz,
GPhreak

I installed the latest patch 1.66 or 1.68, I forget. I ran it twice last night and it passed the protection check both times on the first tries. I don't even think you can install the patch if it doesn't pass the protection checks.

So my backup seems to be working fine again.

Hi. I seem to have cracked Sacred, although it might just be my ego talking.
I went through a grueling set of maneuvers in order to make a working backup, with iso-ripping and all that crap.
You wanna know what I did at last?
Of course you do!
I simply copied the cds in Nero (6.0.015), installed Daemon Tool 3.46, and turned on all emulation, and started the game.
With all emulation and patch 1.66c the game ran. It even checked my nero-burned cd, with no issues what so ever.
No need to clutter your harddisk with images, just follow the above steps.
Easy peasy.
I don't claim that this will work on every machine in the world, but it worked on mine, and happy doodie, I'm bloody happy.

This is a step-by-step:

Installed Sacred.
Patched to 1.66c (The copy-protection friendly patch)
Burned Sacred Disc 1 in nero. Nothing flashy, just basic options.
I used a cheap-ass cd. No fancy DYE for me, kiddoes.
I have a Philips cdrw2412a, by the way. Crappy as hell.
Turned on all emulation in Daemon Tools. (Laserlock/Securom/Safedisk/RMPS)
Inserted the copy of cd1 in my pioneer slot-in dvd-drive.
Started Sacred.
Laughed like a hyena on crack.

Hope this helps. Have fun guys, and remember to kiss pictures of purple rainbows daily!

The Cockroach.

My pretentious post right above this one is null and void.
Although I have a cd that works with the above mentioned technique, I cannot duplicate the method.
I might have had daemon tools with full emulation running simultaneously with nero, but that shouldn't affect the bruning process, right?
My room-mate computer can't run my working copy, but his computer is almost incapable of running original cd's, so I guess that might not be my fault entirely. His drive is rotten, filthy crap. Anyways, I'm pretty certain that I might be able duplicate my success, but it's gonna take a while. Maybe my copy has a slight flaw that confuses the cd-check? I don't know. If anyone feel lie discussing, I'm game. I really want to crack that game. The Germans are not clever enough to make an impossible cd-protection, right? Damned krauts.

Anyway, signing off in a bit more humble way.

The Cockroach
