I have a feeling Securom may be slowly migrating to the way of Starforce.

I just ordered a copy of Majestic chess, hopefully I'll have it tested on my Plex Premium by the end of the week.

There is a way to stop the SECUROM driver logging in - a thread on here discusses it ;-)

Not yet, sorry They claim it shipped out on wednesday. I ordered it from Amazon with 3 day shipping (afterwards it claimed to be 3-6 day shipping, lol).

As soon as I get it, I'll take a crack at it. Its the American version (I'm assuming since its from an Amazon.com sub company).

I was asking because I think that the euro version is newer.

Yeah, I thought that aswell. Historically, Europe always got hit with the newest protections first. Either way, I'll have a new chess game. I've always loved the game and have grown rusty.

Nope, this company is pissin me off. Don't ever buy anything from "discountchessshop" from amazon.com. I didn't know that amazon turned into ebay. I ordered it on Feb 7th, estimated arrive was the 17th, its now the 23rd. I'm pretty pissed.

If anyone knows where to get a game with version 7 in the US, let me know.

The game is kinda neat if you enjoy chess, they have an adventure mode where you travel through exotic locales to play chess with people, lol.

Thats an interesting theory, but I'm not sure that its true. The two games that use Securom 7 are published by two different publishing companies and developed by two different developers. I doubt that both developers created a custom version that is exactly the same... unless you have a wild conspiracy theory.

Sony DADC(the makers of Securom) are based in germany and I think that they are working with small developers in the area along with small publishers to test drive their new version.

Just my 2 cents.

Just as an info I just created a succefull backup of Constantine (DVD) using chaosmaker's guide. BWA created with BB5.1 (BWA curve cleaned) and Image dumped with BW5.10 using my Toshiba SD-M1712 J004.
Wrote the Image using BW5.10 in combination with my Pioneer DVDR-105 1.05 @ 4x using the below posted media. For install I had to create an ISO copy as the backup won't install this is also mentioned in the guide, good luck.

Constantine ( 4 CD version) in Spain have SecuROM v7, and why they have changed so far its version number is due great "improvements" on its prot. BWAs still working, but emulation detection and crack*** have been improved. Now SecuROM checks for CD/DVD like starforce does, and have implemented stolen functions to its vm (***EXTRA: thats why there is still no crack for this game (**JUST INFO**)***)

Very interesting info, thank you but what do you mean with checks like sf way? And protecting with Virtual Machine is really the most effective way to prevent cracking.

I just bought Act of War: Direct Action a couple of days ago. After installing it yesterday, I found that it installs the SecuROM User Access Service (V7) (UAService7.exe). FWIW, it's currently using ~812K of RAM on my system.
