Yes but it isn't quite as simple as you would think. If you are going to go the no-modchip route, then I recommend the HD Loader option as it is the most hassle-free. You are on your own for where to find it though. The most common option is the swap magic with the flip-top lid. The problem here comes with the fact that not all games are a single swap. Some require fixes, multiple swaps, ect. before you can get them to work properly . You also have to ensure that the TOC size of the game you are swapping is larger than the backup. With a soldered modchip, you just read the original disc to the computer HD and write back to DVD-R, then pop in your PS2 and play. None of the other garbage to worry about. I recommend the following course of action. 1. If you are an experiences solderer with a steady hand then chip the console yourself. 2. If you don't fit into the first category then get your PS2 chipped by a trusted installer (look around on different sites and you will get a good idea of who is reliable and who isn't). 3. If all else fails then go with Swap Magic. I personally got mine chipped by a trusted installer. Sure it is the most expensive of the options but it was worth every penny. After seeing all of the people with swap discs struggling getting certain games to work, going through several steps to get them to load properly, ect. I am glad I didn't have to deal with that garbage.
