From rdgrimes' sticky Interpreting C1/C2 error scans:

In VERY general terms any C1 average count under 10 might be acceptable, but higher values are not always the end of the world either. But, on CDR's we prefer to see avarage C1 counts under 2, with max counts under 20.

I have accidentally used many Moser Baer and CMC discs (verbatim and Imation relables) and never had a real problem. I know the error rates wring in higher, but they have always done their job.

That's NOT to say that I will continue using them. Now that I know better. I am just saying, as has been said to me on this forum many times, error tests don't mean everything, they are only an indicator.

I am a newbie. I'm based in India. Over here, moser baer sells cd-rs under the name - "moser baer pro" with double protection. These sell here like hot cakes and are known for their quality. These are the same cdrs that are shown on www.moserbaer.com. Now I happened to come across this forum and saw that moser paer cd-rs are not appreciated globaly (in most cases). So, i decided to do some testing myself. I'm new to this stuff and don't know how good or bad this result is.

I could do some tests and post some scans, but the easier thing would just be for you to surf the forum and search for scans of Moser Baer. Then compare then to the discs generally considered as higher quality. This is a broad generalization, but Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim (real ones made by Mitsubishi Chemical) seem to be near the top on quality. Then ones like Prodisc and maybe Ritek seem middle of the road, then near the bottom is Moser Baer and CMC.

This is only speculation, but it's possible the price of importing to India is too high to be worth other Media. Or it's also possible that media made and sold in India is newer than media that is exported, pay close attention to the disc codes on stuff other people have tested versus what you have.

Another thought is this, Verbatim makes a couple different level of quality discs. Discs labeled Moser Baer might be the good ones with the double protection, but ones relabeled as other brands and sold in the states may be a lesser line. Moser Baer is never sold in the states as Moser Baer, it's usually Imation or Memorex.

Thanks for the quick reply. Also could some1 tell me is the test above was good or bad. Also, a pack of 100 (cake) "moser baer pro protection plus 52x" sells here for roughly 20usd.

The test above is pretty decent. Personally I've had no problems with Moser Baer media. All the stuff I've bought has been good quality.

@engine:

1. You can't, ever, draw conclusions form a single test performed on an single disc.

2. The first disc is scanned on the Nec and the second on the LiteOn, which is totally misleading.

3. The PIE/PIF levels at the beginning of the 3540A scan is an indication of a defective disc. NO burner (unless the burner itself is defective) will give ANY C2 error with a good disc.

4. I've burned dozens of discs of all qualities on my own 3540A drives, and all the burns came up near perfect.

5. A good point (1) is worth repeating: NEVER draw conclusions from an anecdotic test.

I had somekind of problem on my computer, wich made a lot of c2 errors on CD burnings!

So I ask some moderator to delete my previous post. The one with the scan with a lot of C2 errors on the NEC ND-3540A! Not the last one!

The reason why I ask this, is because that post is not fair for both Moser Baer india and NEC. Please, also delete my offtopic posts refering to that burn and Francksoy´s too. Including this one.

Thanks!
